No no, I should have been more clear. I am not having the problem, nor is anybody I know, other than the poster up higher in this thread.

My poor attempt to "quote" must have confused matters...you see, it was my suggestion for the XP user to do a reinstall, and I was just asking if others thought that might be a good idea.

Incidentally (and unrelated to the original poster's problem in this thread), I have to use the "run as admin" setting on my Vista 64 system. I've read the security briefs from Microsoft's security design people, and I've decided that it's not a good idea to disable the UAC on a Vista system.

But "run as admin" is not available for XP users, hence my thought to re-install VSD.

Nothing changed as far as I know. I didn't add any new software. It does look like Microsoft sent me an update 2 days ago under the Software Distribution Service. This is likely the cause. I'll investigate and update the post if I find a solution.

Ohhhh, don't get me started on "Windows Update." Automatic bug-insertion, if you ask me.

I just recently had to re-image my Vista environment due to what I believe was a bad Windows Update. I've got automatic update disabled now, however; and I will do manual updates once ever month or two, and only under completely controlled situations (ie, where I've taken a fresh system state backup, a fresh "System Restore" checkpoint, and a new full-backup image of my system partition, etc).

I restored my system back a few days and still get the same error. I can open a new website with nothing on the page and try to preview with the built in browser and it still errors out. Can I get an older version of VSD so I can try that version. I did recently update to the latest version.

Exactly what version of VSD are you using?

In my case I'm using VSD Version 5.9.4 and I have XP Pro Service Pack 3. I can run the program on my other computer with the same service pack level and operating system.

I also spent the day removing all my coffeecup software and then editing the registry to remove all items that had anything to do with coffeecup and VSD. Then I reinstalled VSD and still get the same errors as listed above.

Christian,
Did you ever find a solution for this problem with VSD Version 5.9.4 because after using the program for a year with no difficulty, I am now having the exact problem you described above? Is there any hope to fixing the problem? Thanks for any help.

No this issue was never fixed. I run this software on another machine and don't get the issue. Not really sure why this happens. Sorry...

Adrienne, if you have any clues as to what has changed with either your site or your computer since the problem has started, that could help narrow down the cause. VSD 6.0 should finally be available soon. Hopefully, some unsolved mysteries like these will magically disappear. :/
