I am inserting my logo that is a JPEG. I'd like to just have my logo and not the white background of the original file. How do I get it to have no fill? I was able to do this right in Publisher with my old site.

You need to use a graphics program to make the background of your jpeg transparent. If you do not have one, GIMP is free.

JPEG's cannot be transparent. You would need to convert it to a GIF or PNG.

I was able to make the background transparent in Publisher - the original file was - and is - a JPEG. novawritingservices.com - see logo in upper left corner. I am trying to do the same thing in VSD, but it apprears from what I can see right now, that it doesn't have a picture editor.

I just checked, and the .gif logo does have a transparent background. You should be able to drop it into your current design and it should work fine.
