All I want to do is draw a simple line in VSD. I have made one sort of by stretching a shape but would rather have a simple line. I must be missing something but can't figure out what. Thanks

I guess you could also use the html tool and type in
<hr align="center" width="100%" size="5" color="#000000" />
<hr align="center" width="100%" size="5" color="#000000" />
