anyone know what dpi the visual site designer saves work in?
for instance, I've created some headers to go at the top of some pages in photoshop, saved them as gifs at 72 pt resolution. I drop them in, they look fine on the editor, but when I go to preview them, they are distorted and they don't line up with the text boxes and shapes that I created on the page.

which makes me think of another question...I added the drop shadow effect to the header and it doesn't come through on any of the pages when I preview them.

I thought it might be the browser that I was using but I've tried it on Chrome and IE and get the same results. I'm thinking that the designer builds the pages using a certain dpi, and that it isn't matching what I create, therefore distorting it when previewing. anyone had this problem?

Jason, a link to the site would be good so we can see what's going on. Also, are you using the latest version of VSD? When you save your images in Photoshop, do you use the Save for Web option?
And one more question  Are you changing the size of any images in VSD itself?

Hi Paint,
I don't have the page up and live at the moment. I'm designing a more professional looking site for my wife's party supply store. to answer your questions though...

not sure about the latest version...using version 6, build 6
I do save the images in photoshop in web form (gifs)
and no, I'm not changing the size of the images in VSD

The exact issue is that
1. The image is becoming slightly distorted and larger when viewed as a finished product
2. The image is loosing its "effect" of having a drop shadow behind it

I'm not sure how to take screen shots and attach them on here otherwise I would and show you what it's doing.

Well, Jason... I'm clueless :/

I made a little GIF image, saved for web and added it to a blank page in a site I'm working on. Gave it a drop-shadow, saved and hit preview. I see what you mean - no drop-shadow and the image is exactly 10 pixels larger in height/width. There are some JPEGs with shadows on the same page and they show up just fine - with no change in size.

I've never used GIFs before, but I wonder if they're not compatible with the shadow effect. Maybe someone who is used to using GIFs will have some idea what's up with this. In the meantime, I'm going to ask Mr.Google about this, 'cause I'm really curious now!
