I downloaded VSD 6.0 Build 3 on Monday. Now, it has erased external links on my website. The are links to old online articles and such for a football program, that are archived as far back as 3 years, and now they are gone.

They are linking randomly to coffecup.com .

Here are two examples of what I am talking about. Go to these pages and look at the links, some work, some are erased and link to coffecup. If this can't be fixed, it is a severe problem because I can't recover those links.

Help Please???

I've run into the same problem with a bunch of external links in my website. The internal links seem to work, though. So, I think I'm gonna go back to 5.9.4 for now because I don't have the time to fix all my external links to what they're supposed to be. You should check to see if you have a backup of your site before you upgraded to 6.0. If you don't, your original links are probably history.

I do have a copy of the site from about 2 months ago, but that doesn't really help. Even if you open that in 6.0 the links are gone. This is a disaster and I am pretty upset that this version was released with a problem as big as this. As I said earlier, that is 3 years worth of archived information that is now lost. Wow!!!!

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. When I check my external links within VSD, they all go to www.coffeecup.com, but when I click on them in IE7 after I have saved my site to my PC, they go to the correct site. Strange, very strange!

I suggest you reinstall 5.9.4 and go back to your site from 2 months ago that has your links intact and wait till CC fixes this problem befor upgrading to 6.0.

I can't go back to the site from 2 months ago. We are a company that builds websites for high school athletic programs and individuals. The sites are re-structured every year. So that old site is just that, old and look nothing like what is online now, not to mention is wya behind on information. These sites are updated 4-5 times a week.

DISASTER!!

VSD 6.0 will only change your links from your 2 month old copy IF YOU SAVE IT. If you didn't save it, those links are still intact and should stay that way if you go back to 5.9.4!

Sounds like you have a real mess on your hands. Sorry I don't have any more suggestions. :(

One more thought. Are your sites backed up daily on a server somewhere? If so, you should be able to retrieve a more recent version of the site from the server and get the links from the .html files.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
