Is it possible, when using VSD, to download the current website on remote server to a different computer to edit the information?
For example:
Our website was created with 'Computer A' using CC VSD and uploaded to web host. Could we now use 'Computer B' to access web host and download the current website, edit, and re-load the site?

Hiya Bill,
Although I am sure I'm not the only one that will not suggest this be done due to too man cooks spoil the broth syndrome, it's very easy to do.
The .vnu file and it's directories are what is needed by all parties concerned. Be sure those are uploaded to the server (and done so again after every update by each person so that it's always the current update). Be sure to setup scheduled times or at least confer with eachother so that you don't overwrite something someone else is still working on and so on.
Other than that, it's a simple thing. Be sure that all the files are there that the VSD program creates with the .vnu file (I don't use VSD so I don't know exactly what folder(s) to tell you to look for).

Thanks for the input...
Does VSD have a mechanism for transferring the files from the host to the computer (opposite of the 'publish' button) so that the new computer has the most recent files?

The easiest way to do that is go to the File Menu and select Save As and save to a USB drive. This will copy all the files needed to that location.

Scott - I understand that would be the best method of file transfer from the computer that has the current files to the other, but...
Say I had my laptop in a place far, far, away. My boss says that I need to change X, Y, and Z on the site and I don't have the most recent .vnu file or related files on my laptop, just a fresh copy of CC VSD. Is there a method of downloading those files from the host, or FTP them down to my laptop?

No, there is no easy way of doing that without causing some sort of issue. What you could do there, is just zip your website up after each upload and then you can download it to whatever computer you need to work on.

Perfect Scott - that is how we will handle this.
I read in another forum about the file paths - will there be issues with some of the files/photos not being located once moved?

Yes, that is actually one of the issues that can happen, especially if you are using XP and Windows 7. What you may want to do is put your website on a USB stick and just keep that on a key chain.

If understood you correctly you stated that one could either download to a USB Drive or zip the web file, although there will be a loss of photo files. Is a USB Drive the same as downloading to a CD? If not, when you state to zip the web file, where are the directory/files located to be zip? I can live with not being able to transport the photo files at this stage of the web design.
My question is how do I transfer my draft web that is on my home computer to another computer?
• Do I attempt to locate a specific directory or file on my home computer and copy that directory or file to a CD and then run the CD on the computer with the newly installed Coffeecup Software;
• Or, do I just create a new directory on the computer with the newly installed Coffeecup Programs and rather than run ( I am guessing that it has exe file extension) I attempt to direct the Coffeecup Software to the newly created directory;
• Or, am I allowed to access my draft web site on the S-Drive from another computer, (that is my home computer has a specific IP address and the Office computer I am guessing has a different IP address) after signing in on a particular page?
I have noticed Twitter and Face Book accounts being mentioned on the S-Drive page but I do not have either of those accounts.
I also noticed mention of a post email procedures, but I am understanding that to mean, person that I select to view the site while the site is under construction can do so once I have sent them an email invitation and they have responded back to the authorizing email that I have sent. Will this work for me as a solution?
1. URL to your Website: reality.coffee.com or http://reality.coffee.com (I think one of these is correct)
2. Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate
3. Version of the application: Super Pack
4. Trial or registered version: Registered Versions
5. What specific steps have you taken to create this issue? With the authorization of Coffeecup I installed Super Pack via CD on to a new computer system and as I now know now of course, I was unable to access my Web Pages for editing…in that my Web pages were created on another computer, that being my home computer.
6. Does it occur every time? I am able to access my Web pages from my home computer.
7. Can you recreate the issue on another computer? I am looking for this type of a solution; did I miss the transferring of a web page to another computer in my search? Is there an Article that you can point me to that detail this transfer procedure?
Recreating the Web from scratch, rather recreating the Web from the Coffeecup foundation is a solution, but it would be a restricted solution meaning that I could only work on the real web details from a computer that I would be at only 8 to 9 hours a day whereby if I am able to transport then I can spend more time on my home computer setting up the Web details.
I received my initial Coffeecup programs through downloads to my home computer. With the help of the Coffeecup Community I received my CD version of Super Pack and the rights to place Coffeecup on another computer as long as I would be the sole user of the Coffeecup Software being housed on that computer.
Today I proudly installed Coffeecup Software on an office computer.
After the initial shock of not being able to display my Web to disbelieving onlookers, especially after I had talked so boldly and loudly about my newly found venture that would be taking me on a journey whereby I was assured of acquiring both new skills and experiences and why should I not stand tall before the discovery given the Community and Support behind the Software I was assured of having a successful journey, I now pled to you for a solution...
Any time and experiences that you can share with me on this personal issue will be greatly appreciated, thank you,

There's one thing you want to do. Make sure you keep a file just outside of the VSD "mysite_website" file of everything you add to VSD. This makes it easy to take your site with you and to backup all the files necessary to render your site. Lets say you add an image to one of your pages and the image is located under the standard "Pictures" directory in windows. If you save your site to a usb stick and try to open it on another pc it's going to look for that image at that location on the current pc but it won't be there because of the user prefix that windows assigns to the picture folder but doesn't display it. By saving all your images and other files brought into VSD in a separate folder you will insure this will not happen. If for some reason VSD errors and says it can't find a file during upload, pointing it in the right direction will be painless.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.
