I'm not sure how that all works with VSD, but one thing I do for sure when I add a favicon to a page is I include the link in the Head tags in the beginning of the page. Usually adding it to the home page only, will spiral it down to the rest of the pages, but I've always added the link to the homepage to be sure it shows up and is correctly coded into the page as such:
I usually add this after the main CSS links in the <head> area
<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="images/favicon.ico" />
Obviously you'll need to adjust the bold area to reflect your own folder location of your favicon.
But... Having said that... the CC Shops made with SCC or SCC Pro do not need anything added, it picks it up on it's own if you just add the favicon image to the root directory of your site.
