Hi Scott,
A few of us are having uploading issues with 5.9.4.
Can you please write a post to let us know if you are able to recreate these problems. There are a few topics here about it for you to look at.

Further, if you have found that there is an issue with the software already, and you guys are trying to resolve it right now, can you please post a time estimate on this upgrade? Any ball park figure will do.

Lastly, if you are sure that the problems are not related to VSD but are actually related to our own computer settings, can you please post a list of computer settings that will increase our chances of a successful upload.

This way we can all make an informed decision as to how we will address our own needs. At the moment we are flying blind because we don't know where Coffeecup is up to with this and so we are just waiting to find out.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to reply to this message :)

Sharon, I already posted a message suggesting they make an announcement, obviously it fell on deaf ears.
It would certainly go a long way to quell the growing resentment in what was once a loyal following.
Even if they just said...Look, we realize some of you are having problems...
At least then we would know they are aware of us.

Honestly, I think Scott might be on vacation at this time. Sorry, if I'm incorrect, Scott. :P

Anyway, I definitely hear you guys and while I don't have much push, I'll try to make sure you guys are heard in case certain posts/threads go overlooked. The hard part for me is trying to recreate the same upload/error scenario which would make it so much easier for me to represent your case. Maybe I should send one of you my laptop as a swap since it seems to be immune. ;)

Sorry for my late reply. Been traveling across the country for the past two days. Recently we just opened offices in Atlanta and I was in the process of moving from Corpus Christi. Things have been a bit busy ;)

Now as to your questions, we are still trying to figure out what the issue is. The issues reported by some users are so random, we cannot figure out what the specific issue is. Under every possible configuration, we have never been able to reproduce any error. We have numerous systems with every operating system using USB drives and network drives, all work as they should.

For some users, we have connected to their system using logmein and when we try to re-create the problem with the user watching, it will even work for us. Maybe we have the magic touch ;)

What I *think* may have something to do with it is either anti-virus or some security application. I have a few different ones installed here but again, the software never fails for us.

Now what I can recommend and what seems to work for us and other users:

1. All files are saved either to their desktop or to a folder on their C: drive
2. All related files like Photo Gallery, JukeBox etc.. are also saved to the same folder where
3. If using Vista, the program is being run as Administrator or with Administrative rights.
4. Under Vista, DEP has Visual Site Designer setup as an exception.

The more information we have, the better. Unfortunately we get more e-mails that just say "doesn't work" and that is very hard to work with ;)

Could someone explain that one please. I just built a PC and bought Vista Home Premium 64 bit for it ... Just now getting VSD up and running on it (that's another story, lol) but I'm not too good with Vista yet.

Here is some info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352

Also VSD is not 64-bit compatible. I just noticed you mentioned that. Maybe this is an issue with others too.

Hi Scott,

I have VSD 5.9 AND Vista 64-bit and I recently re-did my site and uploaded without any problems. (except for some cache thingies when it was brand new) I don't know why, but I usually open and 'run as administrator'....perhaps that's why it works -?

Thanks for the link, but that stuff is mostly Greek to me, lol. Does that mean I'm to change a setting back in the admin. stuff. I'm the only one using this PC, so there is only one account and it's the admin. ... I didn't even put in a password. I turned off the user account control because those stupid permission pop-ups were driving me crazy, lol.
I finally did get VSD working on the Vista 64 bit although since I'm still getting this new PC set up I really haven't used it yet, just loaded a few pages and tried a few things. I had to copy vsd_tmpdir over from the old PC to get the previews working correctly and I accidentally installed an older version of VSD the first time and it wouldn't open the site which drove me nuts until I figured out what I did and removed that one and installed the same version I had been using. (5.9.1)
I don't have any 64 bit programs, but when I made the decision to buy the 64 bit Vista I did some reading first and am under the impression that the 64 bit will run all 32 bit programs also. I know that there are some programs which were written just for XP that may not run on Vista but I understand there is some way to put Vista in a XP mode or something like that, I haven't gotten that far yet, lol. Most programs these days are written for both operating systems, VSD looks better on Vista, fits the screen better than it does in XP. Anyways,I have the last PC I built running XP so that wouldn't be a problem, I'll just run them on that.
After I get this thing set up I'll be using VSD to make several changes to my site, I'll be sure to let you know if I encounter any problems. :)

Thank you Scott for responding. I've just downloaded 5.9.4 again to respond to your thread "Help with finding a solution"
When I type in msconfig32. I get a message saying that Windows cannot find "msconfig32", and asks me to check the spelling and try again.
Do you know why this would be?
