You can use FastStone Capture V5.3 to change your document into a PNG file.
FSCapture is a screen capture program. Here is the link to the free portable version that can be run without installing onto a computer.

Open your Word Doc and adjust the window width to the smallest you desire and still get the whole page width. Open FSCapture and choose 'Capture Scrolling Window' option. Choose the top of your Document file window, and it will turn the whole document to a image file. Use the crop to choose the area you wish and save.
You now have a png format of the document to place into your web page.
Use explorer properties to find the Height and Width of the file and change your picture to that in VSD. Make sure your page is big enough to display the image file of your document.

I haven't yet tried the PNG option, but the PDF one really was great, but I don't know about perfect. My home page, for instance, I don't want to be a PDF file. And if I want some of the text to link... Adobe 9 Pro might be able to add links to text, but the first problem remains. How would this work with a PNG file? Would Photoshop be able to add links to parts of the text? But then there's a third problem: flash (e.g., slide shows) and drop-down menus. Seems those won't work with a PNG file (which I've not yet used and know nothing about) and probably not PDF, either.
Does anyone have solutions?

Another solution you could try: In VSD select the html tool. In 'Body HTML' type
<pre> your text here </pre>
and instead of 'your text here' you paste the text of the actual document. Any links you want will have to be made in the document before you insert it into VSD
