For all of those that offered ideas and assistance -- especially Spinny -- I thank you!

Have been dealing with hostmonster on this, as it does appear VSD was saving the changes (I sit corrected -- sorry I doubted Coffee Cup!). While the FTP did work, something apparently glitched in the last upload I performed prior to everything going to pot -- several of the files went to the wrong folders, even though I uploaded everything at one time to the public_html folder. The test page I uploaded showed some corrupted files and the support tech said some did not overwrite or put themselves in a different file. I have since sent my files to their scripting dept to find out what is wrong and how to fix it.
