I'd like to have a hidden page where I can create a link that when someone clicks on it it automatically starts a download of a file. The hidden page I understand - just have no links to it and share the link directly.
I'm assuming I need to upload the file, but beyond that I'm clueless. I'm not sure how to imbed it into the page or anything else. Could someone please detail how I might do such a thing? If it's possible in VSD.

If I understand you correctly, just open VSD and add a page, put the link on the page like you normally would except when you click on link, choose the option of "docu", find what you want to link to, and save it. you can name the page if you'd like or leave it Page whatever. Now all you do is give the link out like http://www.yourwebsite/pagename, they click on the link on that page and it should download.

Everything worked, accept the page doesn't seem to be there when I check for it on the internet.
In preview, it's there and working. I upload, site is fine, I type in
www.mywebsite.com/pagename and get "link not working".
www.mywebsite.com/pagename/html - same
I remove everything from (whatever the bar at the top is called where I type in my website address) except www.mywebsite.com/ then add my pagename - same story - link not found
I just know this is going to be crushingly/embarrassingly simple and I'm a n00b.
My site is williamallendesigns.com the page name is "hidden" - there's no state secrets here.

.
Hidden.html has a capital "H"
Please also remember to have no spaces in page name, they are case sensitive, and if you do use a space in the names please use an underscore ( _ )

I believe VSD strips out any underscores in the page name if you try to use them.
