I just noticed Erics post about the 100K so lets see if this works!
Joseph, I would do what Scott recommends. I have never been steered wrong by any recommendations that the CC staff has provided. If they remotely looked at your system and found several issues these will need to be fixed. You could try CCcleaner before a full format. It fixed an upload issue on my pc.

Now I haven't read each and every post but I sorta have the idea of the prob. This idea is for Scott and the CC team to think about.
First in VSD images are on one folder, right? What if, since I think some of the problem could be the amt of images amt the time it takes to ftp and what ever the server has to do to index all this stuff, all the images in the img folder is ZIPPED then ftp'ed to the site, UNZIPPED into the image folder then the HTML pages are FTP'ed over.
It really seems that there is an issue with that many images, even though VSD should handle it, VSD is still just a front end for an end product set of HTML pages that are created when we test or save any page, right?
Now this doesn't mean that the fellow doesn't have a boatload of fragmented files or other issues that are part of the problem but if he were to make and save his website to a CD or Flash Drive then zip as above, wouldn't this solve the 20K+ images issue.
Just a thought Wyndham

The problem is the images are no longer even on the computer anymore, so there is no way for VSD to find them. What needs to be done is every image on the website needs to be manually re-linked in again.

Why wouldn't this work?
The images are no longer on his computer but I wonder if they are on his server. Could he download the VSD backup file and images from his server -- create a new working site in VSD -- "Save as" in "one" folder on his computer -- rename folder on server to ?????old -- create new folder on server -- upload new working site to newly created folder.
I don't understand why he would need to format his hard drive just because some file paths are missing. It seems all his other applications are working. I know in some cases that would only take a hour but for most people it would take a lot longer(install software, install files that were backed up, OS updates, etc.). It sounds to me like he needs to get a working site on his computer and then just simply upload it.

Also unable to FTP outside of his computer with any FTP program either. Something to do with his AirCard. Many other programs simply randomly crash like Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer. When Windows Explorer (file manager) simply crashes. That is a very bad sign.

For someone who has never reformatted a computer, or set one up, reformatting probably seems a scary thing to do (I remember first time I had to do it). And if he has a lot of files tucked away here and there, fancy programmes installed and with no license keys, then backing up his files is not an easy task either. But the sooner he learns how to do this, the better, by the sound of it...

OK if he is unwilling or unable to reformat then pay a local PC TECH to do the job for $100 or less. With a clean system make a flash file take it to the same tech and have him or someone with a land dsl do the ftp, if the files are all linked on his cleaned up system. If not, knit one(file) pearl 2(file) 20 k times.

Wow, it looks like you have done all you can do. I would have to agree that maybe the "path of least resistance" would be to format the hard drive.
Thanks for sharing,
