Corrupted File - Post ID 148019
Is there a way to use the backup file to restore a site? I opened my site tonight and it said File Corrupted, cannot open this file. Use the restore function if you have this installed.
I just did a bit of editing in this site earlier today, saved my work and exited. I was able to open other sites without problem.
So I opened the backup, which is in version 6, and I'm only getting a few pages. As much as I just backed up before updating to VSD7, only 6 pages out of 25 or so are there.
HELP!
VSD 7, registered
IE8
Vista Ultimate

If you go to Settings Menu > Preferences, look at the last setting "Saving creates a .vnu backup here". If you have that enabled, click the "here" link and it will open a directory where the VNU files are. Just copy that and overwrite the damaged VNU and you should be all set.

Tim, have you tried restarting your computer, or re-installing a fresh download of VSD7 (then re-start the computer)?

THANK YOU!
That worked with just a few pictures that didn't show up. Easy enough to go back into my files and find them. My whole site is restored. Thanks again.

Well, ever since I've been using a backup file I can edit the site, make changes, and post it. I always save and exit but whenever I try to re-open the site the file is always corrupted. Today I tried to open the site up in VSD 7.0 build 11 and even my back-ups are coming up corrupted! I was able to open a file that was a couple of weeks old, but what a pain to have to re-do all those updates. This is only happening to one of the four sites I have built, the other three open w/o problems.
Is it something in this site? Am I going to have to re-do this entire site to correct this?
I run Vista Ultimate and a registered version of VSD (latest build).

That will probably be a dang near impossible issue to track down. I would suggest opening one of those sites and then do a File Menu > Save As and then save the site to a complete new location and in a new folder. This will re-create all the files into a new folder. See if that helps.

Thanks again Scott-
I have created a new file name for the site and it seems to be working fine again, but I have yet to try an upload. I did update the Flash Menu and found two pages that had corrupted menu files. Not sure if that caused the initial problem or not.

Uploads are working fine with the file created under a new name in a new folder. No further errors.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!
