So I'm just hitting the 'Publish' button, like always, to publish my page. It tries to start publishing, then it says "Connection lost to the server, Retrying". Then I get a message saying that Visual Site Designer was unable to establish a connection to your server.

As you probably know, Visual Site Designer is an old, obsolete and no more supported programme. You may have to contact your server's support, maybe they can help you if something has changed at that end (like e.g. http changed to https or something).
