Eric, Paintbrush & Viv thank you for your help.

It is a time consuming way to do it but if it works for one pic so it will work for the rest. Viv the suggestion if it is not needed for search engine capability to call them the same name and just what they are is good.

Eric thanks for title and ID clarification. The title as I understand it is for my own use sort of and the ID is important for search engines so my pages names whatever they may be... home, about, purchase, contact, gallery etc. each have to be written correctly in the ID as extensions of the main domain. Am I right in this understanding?

I know I'm not in the right thread but I'm not sure what thread to put it in so I will ask my questions here and hope that will be okay. I took Erics suggestion and spent hours reading and learning and using all the options available. I even managed to build the home page/index page. That said here are a few things happening that I can't seem to figure out. I can't seem to create a new page and the only way I can get even the first page is if i close VSD then open it up again and get an option box. There i am asked what i want to do. New page, work on existing site or work with template. I don't like templates so Iuse "new page" but if I close out of that or just delete it I am not able again to bring up a page and basically all of the tools/option are not live and don't allow me to do anything. How do I get a new page without closing VSD and starting again? Maybe I should be making all the pages I want first before I start building, editing and adding content?

Next when I want to put an image up as background in page properties I always end up with four images and never can find a way to delete them without deleting the whole page and starting again.
It just seems unless I always start again there is know way to move forward and the editing options do not allow me to make choices. What am I doing wrong or not doing correctly?

Thank you in advance.

Daniel,
Start with one page. Click the Page Properties tab and Name your page, then use 'index' for the ID and check the homepage option. Now save this (my site, for example). VSD will create all the files it needs including a .vnu file. This is what you'll open the next time you want to work on your site.
To add pages, open your site (index/home page) and click the Add Page button. You'll have the options to name it, set the size, and copy an existing page. Very handy for getting your pages set up quickly with whatever needs to be on all pages, such as your background and logo. You can then go back and edit each new page as needed.
Now when you save your site, all your pages are within that one .vnu file. You can click the Pages button to see them all listed and click whichever one you want to work on.

For your background, it sounds as if your image is being tiled to fill the space. So, if your page were 940px wide and 800px long, you need to have an image that is also 940px wide and 800px long to fill the space or it will be repeated until it does. I like to make backgrounds that can repeat seamlessly for the length so it won't matter if some pages have to be longer than others.

Also, check out the Settings tab (top menu) – Standard Settings for new Pages. You can start here before you add any new pages and set your background, page size and text link colors as well as use the copy-page option.

Hope this gets you back on track! :)

Paintbrush Hi,

Today was a good day in VSD. I already discovered what you just answered for me but I thank you just the same. Yes, It is starting to make sense and I almost have my home page complete.

Now if you could help me find something that has been invaluable to me today. I had a PDF manual for VSD version 7 which has been an incredible help but I didn't save it rt even put it in favorites and I closed it by mistake. I can't remember where I found it. I thought it came right off of the coffee cup site but not positive. I googled it and nothing. Any help here would again be appreciated.

Thank you

Eric Hi,

I just found it before your post. I've come a long way since our conversation last night. It is making sense and I have a smile on my face. That manual is wonderful. Coffee Cup should make it more visible and obvious especially to newbies with VSD.

Thanks again

Daniel,
I hope you're starting to enjoy VSD. Once you find your way around the program, it's fast and easy to use.
You can also find more articles about using VSD here; go to Support > Support Articles.
And if you want to do more with your site, VSD makes it easy to add your own custom code. Check out Eric's site to see some examples and tutorials ;)

Hello People,

I feel like this has become my very own thread and greatly appreciate all of your help. I am moving right along in VSD and it is making sense, YAHOO! and I don't mean the website. I know feel real good about using CC and know I will become a big fan and can move away from template based building. YAHOO! again. I posted the following to another thread which was an old thread but I'm not sure where it is anymore and can't find the thread so I will post here with my questions. If I am violating any forum protocol I apologize it is just that you people have been very helpful so I thought I would give it a shot and hopefully I won't get shot. Here are my questions. They relate to each other.

1. I want to delete a single page in VSD. I go to the "show page" drop down and see the page I want to delete. I highlite the page but I am afraid to click on delete. I'm not sure it means that just the single page will be deleted or the entire site. Please advise how to delete a single page within VSD. This now leads to my next question...

2. Because of the above I want to backup this website to a USB flashdrive. When I do this the images do not appear and I get the message "the selected pictures do not exist". How do I back up the site so everything is accounted for? Again I am a newbie to VSD and not an HTML writer. The more detailed and step by step the instructions the better

Thank you in advance
