Can't Get Picture to Appear

I'm using VSD 6 Build 6. I've got a 5KB .gif file(also tried a 7Kb .png of the same picture) that will not appear in Mozilla or Explorer 8, even though it does appear in the VSD build preview using Mozilla or Explorer. I've used this picture on the same website formulated by the previous VSD so I know the picture is good. I've tried moving objects forward and backward and also moving the picture onto a new page just to see if it would appear there but it doesn't. In Mozilla the space is blank, in Explorer there is an outline of the picture with a red "X" in the top left corner. Any ideas?

Have you moved the original picture file?
I would check to confirm where the original picture is, then delete the pic that's showing up on your preview site. Next, do the add image thing and insert the picture. Might be easier than making yourself crazy trying to figure out what's wrong! :D

Try adding the image directly to your images folder for that project and re-uploading or upload the picture file separately to your host image folder.

I'm having the same thing happen to me. I just uploaded changes to our website yesterday and found that many of the new pictures I added are not appearing on the pages, exactly as the person described above with blank areas in Mozilla and outlines of boxes in Explorer. Each of these pictures was added to the site using the Picture Tool in VSD and I checked to see if the picture files were in the website's Files Folder and they are. I don't get it! They show up in the Preview and are in the Folder, but not on the live website. I've tried re-uploading the website to no avail. Help! Our website is www.flyerc.com.

Try uploading them separately to your server.

Karen is there a particular page on your site where they aren't showing? All the pages I clicked on had all the pictures.

I know that several pictures are missing on the SSX-X-Trainer page of our website, as well as on the page where we list the X-Fuse Parts sets. I went back to look through the Files Folder and noticed that some of my pictures which are missing are in .bmp format. I'm confused as to whether this format is allowed or not in VSD, as it appears in the drop-down menu of the Picture Tool, along with gif, png and jpg. However, I thought I just read somewhere that VSD only allows those last three file formats. I'm wondering if this might be the problem? Do you know if bitmap files aren't allowed?

One of the images that isn't showing has this file path:
Src=files/SSX Power Pack w servos 2010b75%.JPG

so it has the JPG file extension in the code so maybe check your file extension as you thought it was a bitmap. Either the code is wrong, or the program has changed the file extension, or the image file has the wrong extension.

The other possibility is the gaps in the file name. You may need to rename it with underscores instead of the spaces between the words.

I have confirmed that some of the missing pictures do indeed have the .jpg ending, so my theory about it being because they were bitmaps must not be the issue. What I am now thinking that is happening, is that as I was bringing pictures into VSD, I was right-clicking on the picture file (which may have been a bitmap) to open them with Paint so that I could reduce their size before pasting it on the webpage. If I reduced the picture to 25% of its original size, I would add 25% to the original file name, and save it as a jpg. Perhaps having the % symbol in the picture's name is causing the problem? Do you know if bitmap pictures are a problem with VSD? I've been trying to find the answer through their manual and online, but have not found the confirmation of accepted picture file types. However, bitmaps are listed in the drop-down menu of the picture tool, as I mentioned before. If removing the % symbol solves the problem, I'll let you know! Thanks so much for taking the time to try to help me with this.

I'm sure that bitmaps are fine with VSD (although I don't actually use VSD). I would be more suspect of the % symbol as you stated.
