Hi

I have two problems.

Firstly VSD is occasionally creating duplicates of certain image files each time I save. Then when I resync it uploads all. This takes longer and longer each time.

Secondly, to clear out all the duplicates mentioned above I moved the folder VSD created folder containing the files folder and the html files out the way to my desktop The intenion was to resave and therefore rid myself of the duplicates. I forgot to resave. I relocated the original folder and all its contents exactly where I had moved it from and now when I open the site using VSD i get the message that certain files cannot be found even though when I look at the address specified they are there. Why can't VSD see them? ....Other images are found. The addresses are correct.

I have a site with about 150 pages and 4000 odd images so this is a major headache

Can you help please?

Chip,

I moved your message to the VSD section where it will be more likely to get the help you need.

What version of VSD are you using? If it is not the latest, try upgrading to the latest version.

I am not sure I completely understand your issue Chip. But what I would have done is simply to delete EVERYTHING in the "_website" folder that VSD creates when you make a web site. I would not have deleted the folder itself, JUST the contents because VSD will recreate all those files when you re-save if the folder is still there. Not sure if it would create a new folder, but there's no reason to have to find that out. (It likely would.) But I would NEVER move any folders containing images for any reason ever unless you REALLY know what you are doing and you understand the intricate workings of the software and how it interacts with your directories.

As far as VSD duplicating files, is it possible that you accidentally saved them as a different format? Is it possible that you changed the name, even slightly by accident? Is it possible that you re-sized the image inside the software? All these things could cause VSD to re-sample and re-save your graphics in the "_website" folder that is inside your VSD directory structure, therefore leaving you two copies of the same file!

If you will give me some more information I will see how I might be able to further offer assistance.

Bill, just curious. How will Chip know that we moved his thread here? Won't he go looking for it in the same place he created it?
