cannot upload my website - Post ID...
Hi to all,
I am having trouble uploading my website. I am getting the following error message: Error Connecting--The program could not establish a connection to the internet. Please check to see if you have entered the correct destination server, username, and password in the FTP Settings window. You should also make sure your modem is turned on.
I am using VSD Version 6.0 Build 6
I am using copy and paste to enter in the FTP server, Username, and Password information--so I think I have all of this correct.
My laptop is always connected to the internet using a cable modem.
I am uploading to the WWW folder: /htdocs/websitename
Thanks in advance for any help,
Yeto

Is there any reason you're using those folders? The normal place to upload a web site is public_html.

Have you tried checking the "Passive" option under the Advanced Settings area?

I tried that but it did not make a difference. By the way, what does that do anyway?
Thanks,

Problem solved. I didn't know what I was doing. Nothing wrong with the software.
Sorry for the trouble,

it would be nice to know how you solved the problem so other user with the same problem such as myself could benefit.
I am having the same trouble. Is it that I have M/S FrontPage extentions on that server? FP usually does not use FTP
FP has a built-in FTP, as far as I know. But if you upload through VSD, you have to set the upload to whatever your www / public_html / htdocs folder is called on your server and don't bother with the various folders belonging to the FP extensions.
Do you happen to be behind a firewall, or have you got a router configured with NAT? In that case I would recommend passive mode.
