Bing is aggressively ignoring our website; their spider has only been there once and only indexed 2 pages. I've got a login with Bing and the suggestions there have been useless.
1. no .htaccess leading to error 301; I do have the .htaccess file; but, the only 301 I have seen is this month & it coincides with Bing's visit.
2. place the title right after head and before meta, etc.

Is there something that I should put into .htaccess?

We are not having any trouble with the other search engines.

Thanks for any guidance :)

Hello Mortar,

Visual Site Designer places the title tag after the meta elements and a few comments, but this shouldn't cause the search engine to ignore your site completely.

I looked at the underlying code and at first, I thought the problem might be the Flash menu you're using for navigation. But, further down the page, I saw that you linked normal images, which the spiders should have been able to see and follow to your other pages.

An HTTP 301 error results from a redirect. I'd contact your hosting provider to see if they can look at the logs and see what caused the error this month. Take a look at http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E301.html for technical explanation.

Hi Cesar,

I found the problem...Bing wants to see a robot.xml not just robot.txt, that google is happy with.

Thanks!

At least there are no more 301 errors. However, they have only indexed 3 pages. I have to find some other way to get their attention.
