Adding DHTML menu to VSD - Post ID 6376
I'm a newbie and am working with the DHTML Menu Builder for the first time. Pretty cool app!
Is there a way to place the code it creates into the pages I create with VSD? I've done this before in VSD with simple HTML code, and would like to do this to keep everything in VSD. When in VSD and I paste the DHTML menu code into the body of an HTML object on the page, and then preview it, I do not see the DHTML menu. Anybody else have success with this approach?

Is it when previewing in Firefox that you see no menu? If it is, search for posts by 'Raphael', he has addressed this issue earlier.

The menu doesn't appear in preview mode in Firefox or after publishing to the website. The page I've created is at http://hcstopeka.org/board.html . When viewing the page source, the DHTML Menu code is on this page, but I'm thinking it's in the wrong place in the HTML and that's why it doesn't display. Just a guess, though.
Steve,
When viewed with IE6, the menu appears centered horizontally and vertically about even with the bottom of the cross in the hand. The code has the position at 506px down from the top, which is near the bottom of the page. Firefox is more likely to be exact in following the code, but with absolute positioning, it is hard to be sure.
I suspect the problem has something to do with either the absolute positioning or the z-index, but just to rule out the DHTML code, try this:
Download a self-extracting zip for the DHTML dat file. When you run the file, it will extract a replacement dat file and instructions on how to replace the original dat.
This is the dat file that I use and it has been modified by other users to fix specific problems that we have discovered with specific browsers.

That did it - thank you! The DHTML menu now appears in the VSD preview and Firefox. I searched for other posts about swapping the dat file, but didn't find exactly what it does. Is there an explanation of it somewhere?
Steve,
There is not really an explanation, but the original dat was causing me some interesting problems (drop down menus showing above the main line and moving to the far left) and Rafael (another forum member) provided the corrections, and I tested them to be sure they were working. Someone asked for the changes so I created the self extracting zip. The instructions in the zip have been modified, and the dat has been modified, and each time, I have updated the zip.

Ran into another problem that I'm sure has a simple solution, but I can't find it. If the browser is not at maximium size, or has the history window open, the DHTML menu is in the wrong place. An example of this is at http://hcstopeka.org/files/Download/DHT … imized.jpg
Is there a way to anchor the DHTML Menu in place?
