Hi Cuppers
I showed a file to Bob yesterday that had issues which Bob kindly sorted out.
There was a conflict of styles....
I’m curious now about what styles can be mixed.
I’m guessing in the body you can have only one style, grid, flex etc
So in the containers can you now start using flex etc...
Will this conflict with the body grid (that’s if you using body grid.... )
Thanks T.

Personally I'm not using grid positioning. But my understanding has always been, that you can use grid, flex and traditional float positioning in the same project. For example, when building mobile up, you can have the fall-back with floats, then after the next breakpoint you can change to one of the others. You can also have some container in a project with its immediate children are positioned flex, but e.g. one of those children may have a grid layout for its own children.

Probably, where it goes wrong, will be if one tries to style the same element with BOTH flex and grid within the same breakpoint.

As I said, this is my understanding of it, and if I'm wrong, I hope someone will tell me.

HI Inger
One more question please
Are there any of the file formats that start with desk top please
I find mobile first a real pain as my site is mainly desk top or tablet?

The Vanilla system can be used both ways. Just select the version of it that you like. It doesn't come with pre-built classes or components, though, but you can use flex or float positioning (probably also grid, but as said earlier, I don't use it).

I have tried to offer some help with a couple of building blocks, see my sharing folder, URL in signature. Go to the right-most column and look at the entries marked 'VA'. I will create more of them when I get some time. You can also use the building blocks found at w3schools.com

Addition: If you are building in Vanilla desktop down and use the Grid system, I don't know if it is possible to create a 'fallback first'.

Hi Inger
Absolute star * : )
Thanks for the VA desktop first
Your resources look very helpful
Great idea to share them.
I haven’t a clue what fallback first is?
To be honest if my site works ok I’ll sleep at night without it : )
Thanks for the help
T. : )
