I plan on using GoDaddy to host my website, would I want a Linux or Windows Operating System?

I'm very much a beginner.

Thank you.

Linux!

However, you should use our hosting platform instead! ;)

Come on Scott lets get on top of this

Here for beginners developed is a solution so sweet
With a password in S drive it will do it all very neat
WE will host your first website and 1 form all for free
Its so easy to use you'l have your website all up live before tea

No html knowledge, no tags, it is all code free
You wont need to know about servers, no jargon or FTP
Just drag and drop pictures and text where it looks great
Get started by 6 in the morning, I bet you will be up late !

Here in the forum you will find one and all
just here to help you whilst having a ball
Theres a bit more to writing your website than above i suggest
But one things for sure, both CC staff and forum bunch here, are all the best

Ok so i am in the mood, now theres no stopping me HE HE HE !

Well....I apologize, I'm not a complete beginner to doing websites, I'm very much a novice though. I use to do basic things in Frontpage, then i stopped all together and just paid someone to do my website.

Now i have another idea, but did not want to pay someone to do the website so i came across Coffee Cup.

I use Godaddy for my domains, and hosting other websites, which is why i am using Go Daddy for this one, just convenient for me.

I have a question, hopefully you can help, if not i understand.

I uploaded my site, via ftp....and i'm not getting all my graphics uploaded, and don't understand why.

Yes i uploaded all the files, including the graphics themselves. :)

I think that may account for it, I see image boxes, they just have nothing to go in them

VSD inbuilt FTP will automatically put everything in the right folders for you, without it, i would have never got my first website live

Just select Publish, and FTP account settings, add your server user name and password

I dont know about goddady, but if files go in public_html you just add /public_html/ in the remote folder, and save.

if your going into an addon domain public_html/addondomainname.com/

Then use publish button top right of program

This is also quick and easy for things like flash applications, photogalleries etc using flash tool, on left bar as again it puts all the related files etc in correct places for you

ok, so i got pics showing by using the Publish button on the Visual Site Designer, but only if my address says http://www.delmarvasoftball.com/index.html/

And all links have to have index.html/pagename

What did i do wrong that i'm required to have index.html listed for each page?

Looks like you have an extra / in your ftp settings for your publishing destination.:)
Check your remote folder entry in your VSD publishing settings. See if you have a / at the end. If so remove it.
