I am planning my first VSD website for my own small business. I wanted to create a very logical, hierarchical, modular directory structure following best practices. Something like what I have detailed below. I have been imagining that on my pc I would create the directories exactly as show below and that when I uploaded my website an identical directory would be automatically be created on the host and all the files would be copied to their proper directories. However, I have read that VSD creates a directory structure all its own at the hosting site in which to place my various files so what becomes of my beautiful structure? I was an applications programmer back in the day but website creation is new to me. Please enlighten me. Do I get to design the directory structure at the host or does VSD? Thank you!!! You guys are my geniuses. I have looked for documentation on VSD directories but haven't found anything really.
By the way, in previewing this post I see that the text editor on the forum strips out all my indentation as I laid out my directories below. The > indicates a directory.

What directory structure does VSD...
It will not be a straight forward task to build a directory structure like you have listed. VSD takes all the html files you make and adds them to the root of the site and places any images you add or it adds to render your site to the files folder. I wouldn't worry about the directory structure when VSD does all the grunt work leaving you free to design a great website.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Rolly: Thank you. That's an eye opener! I won't be spinning my wheels over that one any more.
