I just had an email from Sitepoint to say that they will be running a 3 week online course on Javascript starting on the 26th April for $10. So if you have been thinking of learning this might be a good opportunity.

They have a video clip about it at http://www.sitepoint.com/launch/b02853/

If this isn't appropriate to post here feel free to zap it...but I thought it might help some of us so wanted to share.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Go to the naughty corner Jo Ann! That avatar is too freaky...scared the whatsit out of me!

I came in to say that I had signed up too...so might see you on the course. I'm one of those that has bought the book and has it sitting unopened on the shelf, on my list to learn one day...so might as well take this opportunity to learn it.

Awesome, should be fun! Hmm I gotta find a way to share a voice program setting with those of use that want to do that. I have a Ventrilo server that would really be fun to get with eachother on and talk while we do this course. What ya think?

I'm thinking of joining, but I sent off a mail with some questions first. Haven't had a reply yet.
Do we need that book you mentioned, Tassietiger?

Jo Ann, is voice important in this course? That was one of the questions I asked, because I have a hearing problem, so voice will be difficult for me...
Ha en riktig god dag!

Haha Tassie, it's funny on my avatar. I've looked at that thing for years, I've had that image for at least 8 years and never used it lol. I've been using Animation Shop 3 for at least that long also, and just now realized I could resize things at one clip O.O and all these years I've been exporting every little frame of the image and resizing them manually HAHAHA what a dunce I am sometimes :P

hmm I dunno Inger, but I'm betting that you need to be able to hear a video because I think some of this is going to be prerecorded videos and live videos. Unless you have a tool that can play it in text for you that is like close captioned tv stuff? Other than that I've no idea. As for the voice thing, that's just me suggesting it so we can all talk, nothing they required or suggested :)

Hi Inger,

no I don't think you need the book, but could be wrong. They haven't said we need it. I'm pretty sure I have the fellows email addie so will send it to you via your coffeecup email shortly.

Not really, Jo Ann. I have had PSP for quite a few years without any prior photo editing experience. I just jumped right in a started playing without cracking the manual, so I'm sure I have barely touched on the potential the program has to offer. :)

Yeah same here Tom, I don't usually crack a manual unless I get stuck trying to use it for what I need it for, I usually find out along the years all the things that I "could" have done with it as time has passed lol

I got the email about this and forgot all about it 'til I saw this thread. I got Kevin Yank's Javascript book during Sitepoint's big pre-Xmas sale.

Well written and easy to follow along. I bet the course is well worth it for 10$.
