Uploading from Visual Site Designer
When I upload my homepage with VSD I always get the notice:
" The file C:\DOCUME~1 ......... \Temp\vsd_tmpdir\default.htm is not found. Do you want to continue uploading anyway? "
I click yes and the website uploads anyway (although some of the images won't upload - not sure if this is part of the same problem?)
Could you tell me why this is and if there is a problem?
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
VSD makes a folder and puts it in you "MY Documents" folder on your desktop. there you'll find your project (i'll name it project)project_website folder.looks like this.....
to the right is the website.vnu which is your template you made when you made your website. left is website folder. in that folder is a folder called files which holds all your image that you used to make your site.
so this is where you would upload from with the external ftp, such as direct ftp.
here is how I connect to Lunarpages in VSD, so maybe this will help you.
So your problem ( i may be way off) with the error is it's looking in the wrong place like documents instead of my documents.
or I don't understand lol.

Same problem here. It seems that the home.vnu file for my website contains references to a file that no longer is used on the website. How can I get VSD to "forget" that I ever used that file? I have tried to delete the .vnu file and rebuild a new one but the problem still persists. This isn't making it impossible to publish and I really like this program, but it is annoying enough to make we want it to stop!
rick ,
try seeing if anything is in the remove files wizard under setting>remove files>delete.

For those of you who have problems with uploading via VSD, please take a look at this post:

The post is not offering a solution but is trying to identify what problems and why they occur, and your experience would be valuable to them.

I have AN answer!
I got this too. It read:
The file C:\DOCUME~1 ......... \Temp\vsd_tmpdir\default.htm is not found. Do you want to continue uploading anyway?
The answer was too easy. It was how my new pages were named! I'll tell you what I found, and you can take a look in your folder and see if you have something similar.
I created 3 new pages for my website. All embedded videos from YouTube. So I started them with the name "YouTube:" Like "YouTube: Eagles Ridge", and so on.
But! I have other videos. And I did NOT start those off with "YouTube:" As a matter of a fact, i don't think the "YouTube" part has anything to do with it. I think it's the ":".
So when I looked in my folder and it had 1 file called "YouTube". Just YouTube. NOT 3 files called "YouTube: Eagles Ridge" "YouTube:..." so on and so forth.
I think the ":" stopped the file from being named correctly. I changed the name just to "Eagles Ridge" and renamed the other two.
It worked. Loaded up like always. For me, all I had to do was rename my 3 new pages. So look in your My Webs folder, for your most current saved folder. Open that and make sure your there is an icon for your new pages. If not. Rename those pages. Save it. And take another look.
I hope this helps someone. And thanks to Coffeecup for this great software. I like it a lot.

That would make sense as a colon is not acceptable when naming a file in Windows. Perhaps if VSD is actually trying to save filenames w/ the colon, that should be fixed so that VSD warns you beforehand. Hopefully, the same or similar issue applies to others.
