Hi Everyone,

Today's my 1st day with Coffee Cup and I gotta say it looks like it's gonna be a pleasant experience to say the least.

Ok... I've got a problem.

I built a site on SBI / SiteSell / Site Build It using Upload Your Own Html feature but now I'm left with a website that won't display anywhere but on SBI :(

Ok, Here's an example of one of my pages:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
<html dir="ltr" lang="en-US"><head><link rel="canonical" href="http://www.your-adrenaline-fix.com/about.html"/><link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon" href="http://www.your-adrenaline-fix.com/favicon.ico">

<h1>About Your Adrenaline Fix</h1>

<p>Hi, Being that you clicked the "About Me" link I presume you
want to know who I am...</p>

<p>If you're wanting to know who I am, Great!! I'll be glad to tell you. Stick around, sit back and enjoy my Mini-Autobiography.</p>

<p>If you're wanting to reach me with comments or suggestions, be sure to shoot me an email from the <a href="http://www.your-adrenaline-fix.com/contact.html" title="It's Medication time">contact</a> page.

<p><center><h3>Introducing..."Myself"</h3></center>
<p class="ItemCenter">

</p>

<p>
Let's see... If I were to tell someone about myself I guess I'd tell them that my name is Stuart Kaufman, I'm 42 Years old and I Live in Gainesville, Florida,
minutes from where the "Winter National Olympics" AKA "Mini-O's" are
held each year which is "Gatorback Cycle Park." Such a life isn't it?</p>

<p>I have spent most of my spare time when not working as an automotive
technician straddling these beasts that generate a 10,000+ rpm vibration
and I love the rush that riding a dirt bike brings. Believe me...<br>
I have ridden many miles of trail (which I still do), I have raced a many a
race and still do. Oh, and let me not forget. I have crashed too... Quite Hard I may add which I still do occasionally as well, just not quite as hard as in the past, "I guess I must be slowing down."</p>

<p>Considering that I ride dirt bikes, I know how addictive riding one can be. There just
isn't much that compares with the feeling of a good clean running, arm
straightening, vision distorting, mind numbing hooked up motocross bike
pulling hard in about 3rd gear and I know it as much as the next person.</p>

<p>Well, I decided that writing this website was a necessity since I enjoy helping others and know how much of a rush it can be to ride a
dirt bike, so armed with the knowledge that most people use the internet
these days for finding the information they need, I thought a website
that would be able to help others get lost in the lifetime addiction of
riding dirt bikes by providing the info they need to get started would
be fitting, as well as giving the seasoned riders just what they want to
see and read.</p>

<center><p>Ya' know... I'm helping others to get their Adrenaline Fix too!!</p></center>

<p>If you have any recommendations for articles you would like to see, or feel
would be a benefit to others, be sure to let me know by sending me an email from the <a href="http://www.your-adrenaline-fix.com/contact.html" title="It's Medication time">contact</a> page, and I may post your comments or suggestions on
the website for others to see.</p>

<p>By the way, If you're planning on attending any of the AMA Outdoor Motocross Nationals, GNCC
Races or popular FMX contests and you're watching closely you may see me in the pits, or in the trenches anywhere from Glen Helen to Unadilla and all
points in between, as I do plan on traveling to many of these events to
hang out, watch the pro's slug it out, and capture some good pics and
write up's for ya'll.</p>

<p>If you do happen to see me somewhere, be sure to say hello, and if I don't hear you, grab a handful of dirt and lob it at me then If I'm hungry, we may grab some lunch together "On Me."</p>

<p><center>Thanks for reading, Stay safe out there while keeping it pinned but remember;<br>"Stupid Hurts"</center><br></p>

My question is: What and How can I replace these SSI tags (Such as: ***z-end-file-shtml***)??

These files are not displaying properly and I could really use some help on how or what I could replace these ***z-somefile.shtml*** tags with to end up with a working website again.

Any help on this will certainly be appreciated and I thank you all in advance...

BTW, If anyone could so kindly spell out the exact steps I need to take to start using SSI on this site, I'd be most grateful.

(I'm a novice webmaster and need to know if I need to create a specially named folder for my "Include" files as well as any other info I may need to know regarding replacing these ***z-somefile.shtml*** tags with something that will work.)

Thanks again everyone (In advance)

I would suggest that you ask your questions at the SBI support. This forum is for questions where CoffeeCup software is involved.

Regarding the SSI questions, it seems that your syntax is wrong. You should get some clue here:

Hi Inger Eik,

First, There's no getting anything about this out if SBI. I'm leaving them.

Basically what I need to do is learn how to use SSI IN the Coffee cup editor.

Ideally, It would be a tutorial detailing exactly how to get started with using SSI in the Coffee Cup editor but that's probably stretching my luck,

The reason I included the code above was so everyone can see all the ***z-somefile.shtml*** tags I'm wanting to ReCode or Replace on my page.

Thanks

(If anyone is missing the text below the code box, Here it is again:)

My question is: I am going to a different host where these tags are not working and I need to know What and How can I replace these SSI tags with (Such as: ***z-end-file-shtml***)

Hi again,

I don't think there is any specific tutorial about using SSI in the html Editor. I think the website I gave you a link to above explains how SSI is used generally. You may also take a look at http://www.w3schools.com. I hope you are aware that SSI includes can't be previewed locally, unless you have some server software installed (Xampp, Winamp, Wamp etc). If not, you have to upload the files to see the result.

Another thing you might like to consider, is using php includes instead of SSI, as SSI is regarded a somewhat old technlogy. And they also need server software to display locally. Both SSI and PHP are scripts that are executed on the server.

And finally; have you checked that your new host has support for SSI?

Hi again as well and thanks a bunch for your help.

Ok... So for example:In my HTML page example above; Is all I "SHOULD" have to do is replace a tag such as: ***z-end-of-head.shtml*** with: <?php include("z-end-of-head.php"); ?> and resave the z-end-of-head.shtml as z-end-of-head.php with <? ?> surrounding the contents of the file??

I tried that but can't see the include file contents. Hmm...

If you could so kindly suggest "What's Next" I'm all ears.

Thanks again

This bit is correct: <?php include("z-end-of-head.php"); ?> and resave the z-end-of-head.shtml as z-end-of-head.php

The contents of the file z-end-of-head.php should not have any <?php ?> around it.

And of course, the file that you are including it into also has to be saved as whatever.php

And, as I said, you have to upload the files in order to see the result, unless you have some server software installed.

Thanks for pointing out that my z-end-of-head.php doesn't need <? ?> around it's content but it's the part about your 3rd paragraph stating has to be named with a .php is where I find myself in trouble but thank goodness someone else has already had this problem and they've got it handled inside the Apache handler. (Im learning about this now but see this article: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum88/13373.htm)

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, I had read about that too but never used it so far and it had got somehow forgotten. ;) So thanks for posting that link.

So I reckon you've got your issues sorted now?
