Hello, I'm new and I'm working on making a family website. I am using VSD and have it enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not html literate.

I'm ready to assemble a photo gallery page. I've searched the forums but have found most of the inquires above my head. I've read about Colorbox, Visual Lightbox and Lightbox2. I'm not sure what the differences are. Which would be most appropriate in my case? I would greatly prefer ease of use over sophistication.

I also have a video page. I've simply been embedding videos on the page. Would it be better if I used (if possible) one of the aforementioned programs? Or other?

Thank you! Stan

Sarahphotographer website in my signature, has 2 versions of photogallery, both produced with coffeecup photogallery program

Program like VSD is simple to use, easily incorporated into VSD using inbuilt flash tool

Why not try the program on free trial basis, you can go live with the trial to see how it integrates, and buying the full version automatically deletes the advertising banner

mine here :: http://sarahphotographer.co.uk/pictureportfolio.html

second version :: http://www.sarahphotographer.co.uk/frie … atles.html

keep it simple, easily replaced when you become more proficient

Thank you Viv. Sounds like CC gallery is going to be pretty easy to use. I'll give it a go, any other thoughts or caveats are appreciated. Will CC photo gallery be able to create a video gallery also?

No I don't think so. You will need a video player application that is available from CC as well. And there is a trial version as well. Both applications are pretty easy to use and as always you have plenty of help here if you need any.

I had a video on Sarah's site done with CC app, it is a little more tricky I think its a case of knowing more about video than i do so if you have video experience have a go at the free trial

Issue is all about size of file, and type of file, a little to complicated for a technophobe like me

Can anyone point me to a How to Add Visual Lightbox to CC tutorial? I'd like to try it also, but am having some problems. Do you publish to the server via FTP or publish to an html page? I'm clueless! Thanks.

Stan referring to the initial comments when you started this thread, could i suggest re video, its better to walk before you run.

Why not put a youtube video on initially, which just requires a quick copy and paste of the code on your page using html tool.

then once you have learned how to do it the harder way, you can just duplicate the page, using page tool (takes a minute) . , and add your video to that.

Eric no doubt can advise you better and once website is live, for us all to view its easier to explain how to do it, and in correct forum thread so it will also help others in future.

Thanks Inger, I followed it, but unfortunately was not smart enough to succeed. Not being code technical, a lot of the jargon left me confused.

Viv, thank you. Are you suggested I just embed the videos via html tool? I am doing that and it works fine but it's difficult to see the placement in VSD unless you preview. I'm not sure using a video viewing package would even be better. Here's what I have so far, it's a bit of a mess still. All the links are not active yet.

Thanks all.
