Try it now, I slid the board down a little to show the cable, it is part of the html background so it can get covered up real easy if I'm not careful :)

The errors that I experienced, were they due to those two images being on top of each other?

yup, I had incompletely moved things around and overlapped :)

If you look at your sample, you can see the cable end just peeking out from the top of the blackboard

Yes, I notice that now when you mention it. And as the page is loading, I see the cable image in a very short flash before the blackboard is covering it.
