New web addresses - Page 1 - Post ID...

Anybody ready to buy their custom web address that can end in anything? Instead of .com it could be .tomalicious or anything else. Get the hammer out because your going to need to break a lot of piggy banks open. 185k for an application to basically bid on the name if somebody else wants it then after you get it 25k a year maintenance fee.:rolleyes:
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

don't forget the chain of red tape you need to go through to get verified to be able to buy one of these domains too. Sounds like quite the cash flow scam if you ask me. I'd like to know where all that money is going for these totally virtual, non tangible products. That's a hella lot of money for a name, and someone is getting their pockets lined quite deeply with it!

You'd either need a root name server for your domain root (domain.root) or you'd have to code-in an exception that recognizes your root on every DNS server you wanted to be able to access your domain, and either option is going to drive up the cost significantly.

DNS is simple. This domain resolves to this IP, regardless of TLD.

That's so not true.... http://coffeecup.com and http://coffeecup.tv don't point to the same place
