I just finished uploading my website. In the files where all the images are kept, I now have a lot of IMG files.
Can anyone tell me why these files are created by VSD ?? I have never seen anything like this happen before. BTW, I tried deleting these little IMG files but the website will not load properly.
Thanks !!
Misc IMG files popping up
VSD creates these whenever you copy/paste something or add an effect to something or re-size an image. It also saves each page as it's own html file, so if you have (for example) 7 menu buttons per page and 4 pages, you'll have 28 buttons in the Files folder.
I used to go nuts deleting them, but now I try to work in such a way to keep them to a minimum and ignore the rest
For example; I made a few different sizes of my logo (outside of VSD). Avoids having to copy/paste and re-size it on certain pages.
If you save often (as you should) then move things around and maybe try out different effects, you'll find a bunch of those IMG.jpgs in the Files folder. Delete all but the final version of whatever you were doing.
If you insert a photo on one page and need to use the same photo on another page – rather than copying it, go to the other page and insert it again from the original file.
If you have pages or sections that get changed frequently, remember to go back to the Files folder and delete the images no longer being used on the site before uploading.
You can also go to your site online and view the source code to see which IMG files you need to keep. So, for example; if you have a portrait photo on an about page, and you see in the source code it's IMG_14 – you could go back to the files folder and see if there are any other versions of that photo and delete all of them except IMG_14.
That's all I can think of right now
