You have to have the red text box outline, in text edit mode, and then you can drag across the word(s) you want to be part of the link. If you're seeing the blue outline you're not in the right mode.

Hi Blem,
you have to double click the highlighted text to make a red border around it, then the link window will be available. sorry for butting in Spinny!

I'm smart now cuz I asked, right Bruzer?!
Double clicking the word or phrase, or using the text button does allow me to access the link feature. Thank you gentleman! But still, the last phrase in the column will let me set it as a link when it only has a blue box around it. Hmmmmmm.
No matter. Problem solved. I wonder what the next question is going to be? Any guesses? You've all been where I am right now haven't you, or are you all just natural pros at this?
And since I now know about downsizing images, I should test it out and put one up in place of my silouette. Here goes!
Thanks for all your help!

Yes Blem, it does! but a blue box around the last test nope -must be highlighted with a red border, and as you say it's been solved. and yes we all been there and done that
:

I'm tellin' ya, it allows me to link it with a BLUE box around it! (but JUST THAT ONE word block) The words turn blue and are underlined and when I preview the page the pointer turns to a hand when I hover over it and links me to another page when I click on it.
With the pointer tool in hand I click on that particular phrase.
The blue box appears around the phrase.
I then click on the "link" button and the inspector appears, turns the phrase blue and underlines the words. (and all with the blue box)
I fill in the appropriate information in the inspector and I'm good to go. The link works.
ANY other word, phrase or sentence, I have to use the double click, make a red box method to activate the link feature. That's why I was so confused on how the link feature worked.

The dpi is irrelevant. Don't worry about that. If you want the image on your page to be 600px wide, then the image needs to be scaled down to a 600px width. That will also reduce the file size A LOT.
Just make sure you are working with backups of your images before fiddling with them. You wouldn't want to mess up the originals. I would not use PixConverter. It has some big bugs, so I'm not sure why it's still being sold.

For those of you just joining us, my website is going to be a teaching tool for the repair of a certain, yet common, type of machine.
After contemplating what is sure to be a fairly long written proceedure on one whole section of the machine, it occured to me that if someone needed to do only a portion of the repair, say steps 10 thru 16, can they click on a link that will take them to step 10 on page "whatever", or can I only link them to the page that has the entire proceedure and then they would scroll to step 10?
Keep in mind that mostly inexperienced mechanics will be reading the site and probably won't know all the names of parts, etc. so I'd like to make it as easy as possible for them to find what they're looking for without having to hunt and peck. Thanks once again, Bill

Hi William,
I believe you can link them to that page, and at the top of that page you can link them to the paragragh or that part of the page they need, But I don't know if it's possible to go from the first page and link to a certain area of another, I tried once I couldn't figure that out , but maybe the guru's here can.
