I can't publish my website.
The message always read 'The program can't create a catalog'.
When I test the connection, these messages appear:

Testing server and Logon OK
Testing folder creation ERROR
550/public_ no such file or directory

What does it mean? What am I supposed to do?

Thank you!!

Some servers / hosting do not use public_html as a remote folder

try / website1 and see if that appears as www.yourdomainname/website1

if not check hosting account advice for what location to upload website to in their help

As Viv says – check with your host. Mine requires the remote folder line be left blank rather than public_html.

If i set up an ftp account for someone else on my hosting, to make it so they dont need my password i have to dictate the the remote folder they get access to
They then dont have to put anything into the remote path when they use their own ftp

so i guess this is same reason some hosts end up leaving it blank as well
