how to ask a question in the forum

Hello, My name is Bill Watters and I believe I am a registered user of HTML Editor 12. I have a receipt!
Today I asked HTML online support a question regarding a web site I am struggling to create. It will be my first - previously I've used Yola templates but wanted the freedom to stretch my wings. The response was very quick but directed me to the Forum.

I duly opened the page and read the guidelines and rules but nowhere could I find the access to introduce myself. So may I do that now? I am a retired graphic designer and have been in the business for over thirty years. I remember OS 7 and the problems with Scitex when putting together mail order catalogues!

Now I have a Windows Vista and Adobe's CS3 Design Standard. I thought that being retired doesn't mean that I'm out of work as I get to create posters for local events and things for friends and colleagues in the pub. Sad I know but hey! you've got to keep the little grey cells active.

I am presently chewing my heart out attempting to introduce a stylesheet to my site. I have got as far as viewing the index.html in Safari 5 but I cannot connect the styling on the css page - which just appears in Notepad when I hit Cntl + F9. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Bill

Welcome to the forums, Bill!
Are you creating your styles sheet within the HTML Editor? (Edit > CSS Styles)
I'm no pro with html/css, but there are plenty of others around here who are. They'll get you going in no time! :D

You'll find the intro forum at the top of the forums list ('Welcome to the CC Forums'), just in case this post gets moved – you'll know where to find it :D

Hi Bill. If you could publish your site or provide us with a link that would be great. Otherwise make sure your sheet is in the proper location compared to your html page.

The style sheet is in the same folder as the page.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="mystyle.css" media="screen">

The style sheet is in a subfolder in the same directory as the page.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/mystyle.css" media="screen">

The style sheet is in a sub folder up one directory up from where the page is located.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../css/mystyle.css" media="screen">
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
