Help needed with HTML Editor in London!

Hi there

I am maintaining a website with HTML Editor, in 'Visual Editor' as I don't read code. Adding text is fine, but I don't know how to do some very basic things like add photos and sound clips to the site, and I'm now encountering problems (like entire parts of pages which are 'shifting' when I change text) which I can't fix. :|

Would anyone happen to know of any people based in London (England) who might do CofffeeCup training?

Many thanks - Rachel :)

Are you (by any chance) changing from Visual Editor tab to HTML Editor tab? This is a common problem that users face, so it's the first to pop into mind. The two are meant to be used as separate tools, not interchangeable. So if you are setting stuff up in either view, and switching to "tweak" your style, it WOULD mess with your intended overall appearance.

Rachel,

There are CC ambassadors in London, but I don't have any contact details for them. You may want to contact CC support to ask if they know of anybody in the London area.

Hi Phil. Thanks for the suggestion, but actually no, I'm simply editing in Visual and NOT switching. But because I'm changing text, it seems I'm upsetting certain parameters of the page, and causing changes which I'm then unable to remedy because of my lack of knowledge! Aaargh!

Inger - I did indeed contact CC a month ago and they very sweetly got back to me saying they could help with any queries I might have. I'm afraid I need a little more hand-holding than that, however! Once I know a few basics I'll be fine - it's just a case of getting to that stage.. Anyway, inspired by your msg Inger I'll try again.

Appreciate your ideas, so thanks!

Rachel, I think there are not a great many users of the Visual mode of the Editor.

If you don't want to learn coding, CoffeeCup has a programme called Visual Site Designer (VSD) which is easier to use and has more shortcuts for embedding i.e. video clips and similar. And it has a lot of users, so you will inevitably get a lot of help. The bad news, though, is that you will have to start your site from scratch, because you can't import an existing site into VSD...

The reason your pages are jumpiing is because a chance was made in your div id position on the news page, your position code is missing 'relative' to it. I would contact the person who designed your website and ask them to set up a cms (content management systems) for you to work with as it might be better then html editor if you do not know html. Although I am in Portsmouth and not London, I will contact you via your website and we can see if there is any way I can help your further.
