Looking to see if anyone is familiar with this company to make sure if they are doing things legally etc. as far as Google is concerned. I'm thinking of trying their GBoost, but I don't know a lot about them, just sounds good I guess lol. Anyone have any dealings with them that are good or bad?

Many of these types of sites use pop-up/under boxes... basically its a lot like spam, "ads" that "pop up" when you don't want to see them. People may not take your web site seriously if that is how they find out about it. You may to check on WHERE they are getting these "1,000 hits for $9.99." Also, some of these just create a virtual DOS attack and call it traffic!

Here is legitimate way to build traffic, but extremely expensive:

Thanks Chad, that's exactly why I wanted feedback, because I'm not familiar with any of the sites and don't have a clue which are scamming types and which are legit lol. I'll check that site out too when I get my computer setup tomorrow. Am on vacation again and brought the puter with me this time MUAHAHAHAHA :P

Cut and paste from their FAQ

Q: Where does QuickHits traffic come from?

A: Traffic from the QuickHits program can come from a large number of publisher websites who simply load your webpage in a separate window along with their website.

The privacy agreement we have with these sites prohibits us from sharing their URLs, however they must pass some strict quality guidelines before they will be accepted into the network. For example, these sites must receive a minimum of 2,500 pageviews per month and have an original design/content with no references or links to any questionable or illegal content.

and

Q: I'm receiving high bounce rates from QuickHits visitors - Why?

A: QuickHits is a bulk traffic service which sends traffic to your site from a large range of other sites across the web. These sites will simply load your webpage in a separate window along with their site. If a visitor is not interested in your webpage or offer, they can elect to close the window immediately, which is why you may be receiving high bounce rates.

The key to achieving good results from this program is to come up with an offer/webpage which is immediately appealing to visitors and will grab their attention. This will help to get people clicking on your site and drive stronger interaction.

Another things you need to ask Woleverna is will this traffic be TARGTED. For example, if your web site is selling jewelry, and your ad "pops" up when someone visits the web site of a factory that manufactures automobile transmissions, what are your chances of making a sale?

And notice I called your web site an "ad" because that is exactly how it will be viewed by individuals who find it popping up their screen against their will...

Hope your enjoying time with the fam! And havva Merry Christmas!

Thanks again Chad, that explains a lot, and I did see the popup references which is why I was wondering if anyone used them and if it was as intrusive to people as it sounded to me lol. The package I was looking at was the GBoost which doesn't really explain much about what it actually is going to do so I wasn't sure if they were using the popup method or something else. Popups are an absolute no no as far as I'm concerned. I hate them myself, and would therefore never impose them on others for my own site either (at least not knowingly lol).

Guess I need to find one that doesn't do that then, something to take up some more time I guess while I sit here at the fam's house :P

G-Boost is a different thing altogether. I was referring to quick hits.

Wolverana,

They are only submitting your site to Google. Anyone can do this in about ten seconds and they'll show up in Google within a week or two:

http://www.google.com/addurl/

According to what their web page says, this will not HURT your website ranking one bit.

Based on our G-Boost research and development, the vast majority of web pages will be included in the main search engine results pages of Google within 7 days of service completion. And the good news is that G-Boost is totally within the best practice guidelines set out by Google, so there's no chance of being penalized.

But do you really want to pay $20 a month for someone to do what you could do yourself in about 13 seconds?

Here is what MIGHT be an actual benefit to this service:

After the initial service month, we provide you with additional service components that help to create five new high quality backlinks for your site each month. Every month, we manually submit your web page to many new directories. This not only helps to maintain a quality listing in Google's search engine results pages (SERPs), but also helps to increase your ranking because Google's search engine algorithm uses backlinks to measure the importance and credibility of your site. In addition, by regularly adding new inbound links to your web page, search engine spiders are likely to visit your website more often.

They are correct that Google weighs backlinks very heavily, especially non-reciprocal backlinks, and even more especially non-reciprocal backlinks on pages with similar content and similar keywords as your own site. However I do not understand HOW they are creating inbound links to your site... it is never explained how they are doing that. I wouldn't give them a dime until they explained how they are getting these backlinks or where they ar coming from....

This may also be beneficial:

If your web page is already in Google, but doesn't get visited by the Google spider very often, the ongoing elements of the G-Boost service are a great way of getting the spider to visit your page more often. This is very useful if you've made changes to your site or have added new pages that need to appear in Google quickly.

The words "very often" are important here. Google's spiders will visit your site whether you purchase g-boost or not. They are just saying it MIGHT get visited more OFTEN if you purchase g-boost.

If g-boost was asking for a one time fee of $20 bucks I MIGHT say it would be worth it. Personally I would not pay $20 per MONTH for this, but part of that is just because I do a lot of my own SEO work.

Since you don't know a whole lot about SEO, maybe its worth it to you. You can always try it out for a few months and see how it goes. But keep in mind, getting top listings in Google has to do with a lot more than just how your site is SUBMITTED. It has to do with how your site is CREATED. There are many little details you have to be aware of as you are designing a site that is google-friendly. Even down to something as minor as understanding what kinds of punctuation google knows how to read in the file names you use when saving pages and images.

Listen, it sounds like you need some help here. I would happy to offer more in depth consultation for a fee, actually looking at your site and getting you set up with an SEO plan. Or you can just keep asking questions like you have been. General advice is always free :D

Thanks Chad,

I did recently buy a book on Google SEO and how it's done and it has a ton of what I think (hope) is invaluable information that I was unaware of where site structure is concerned. One of the big ones is the 301 redirect which I had no knowledge of at all, and the site names and descriptions that should contain keywords and just so many basics that I'm sure most of you out there take for granted after having done them so long. Yes, for me it's soooo overwhelming, but I'm going to give it a shot at least to try to manually optimize my site myself first and then hopefully get some feedback from people on if I've done it right or if it's still lacking a lot etc.

I most definitely appreciate your offer, and I may still take you up on it if what I do is just not sufficient enough so bare with me as I "try" to get past the panic attacks that keep telling me I'm in over my head LOL

You doing it yourself I think is the best option, because then you have the knowledge and can take it with you to the next site you build... much better than hiring someone else to do it :-)
