I am looking for an app to create icons. A search turned up Free Icon Studio available from download at pcworld.com, supposedly from CoffeeCup Software, but I haven't found it on this website. So, I'd like to know if CoffeeCup Software really did author this. FWIW, the download is 2,705,325 bytes big.

TIA,
Dan

I don't think CoffeeCup has icon creation software.

An alternative icon software is IconForge at: http://www.cursorarts.com/

Hi

That program was canceled about 3 years ago. We no longer offer it.

So, would the pcworld.com link be bogus? (If interested: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_d … 336,00.asp ) It's got your name on it, Scott.

I am looking for something *simple*. With the very limited scope of what I am trying to accomplish, it doesn't make sense to go with a non-freeware app. For example, I'd like to change the icons that come with OpenOffice.org, so I can tell which ones they are in the Quick Launch area without having to float the cursor over it for a few seconds. There are a few other icons I'd like to change or replace.

If you have suggestions, I'm all ears.

TIA,
Dan

Unfortunately once you release an application it is virtually impossible to remove all the links. I am surprised it is even on PCWorld and they have it listed in the Email section too ;)

Yeah, I wondered about the Email category. Maybe that explains why it's still there - no one knows about it!

Would you be comfortable saying that the PCWorld.com file is actually from CoffeeCup?

It is a CoffeeCup application however we just don't offer it anymore nor support it.

You're a funny guy, Dan.
If Toyota stops making Corollas, is my Corolla now bogus and no longer considered a Toyota? :p j/k
If you like the software use it, just don't expect support for it. Being that "Free" is in the name, I don't see it as a problem being passed around. If it were a shareware/demo version, that'd be another story.
But hey Scott, if that freebie is still floating around, it's just more advertising bringing people here. ;)

Thanks Adam. My kids think I'm a hoot. Not sure if that's good or bad. ;)

The bigger question was whether the Freeiconstudio.exe file on PCWorld.com actually originated from CoffeeCup or from some nefarious super-bad guy. Normally, I'd have given something from PCWorld.com as having come from who they say it did, but since I didn't see any mention of Icon Studio on coffeecup.com, it just raised a few eyebrows and figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

BTW, around these parts, a Corolla would be a bogus car *because* it's made by a Japanese manufacturer. j/k (kinda)

Anyway, thanks guys, I've got something to use, and, oh BTW, Adam's right, had it not been for me finding Icon Studio, I would have never seen the website. I've done a couple of websites with 1&1, but hated the software they provided to do it. As I'm a coder by profession (IBM midrange), your products seem "right on"; I downloaded the free HTML editor to try and see if it's right for me.

Glad you didn't take much offense. Coffeecup's got some really cool apps that make life easier (Photo Gallery's my fav). I probably could learn how to do some flash things myself, but it'd take about 10 years and if time is money...I'm saving a TON.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
