Hi. I've searched through the forums and read everything about favicons and I've tried everything, the "<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
<link rel="icon" type="image/ico" href="favicon.ico">" code and the "<link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico">" code, but nothing seems to work. I made sure the favicon.ico file was uploaded correctly. Am I doing something wrong?

Edited to add:
When I access it via http://76.162.212.91/ I can see the favicon, but when I go through http://www.wandascrittersetc.com/ I still can't, if that helps at all...

I actally get a "blank" for your icon .. so the page is 'doing something'.

Something is not quite right between the two: The 2nd link, the title on the page is WANDASCRITTERSETC.COM while the numeric URL gives the correct title in the browser header ...
Joy,
http://www.wandascrittersetc.com/favicon.ico is the link to your favicon, and that is nothing but white. How did you produce the icon? How did you upload the icon?
When someone goes to http://www.wandascrittersetc.com/ there is a frame that loads http://76.162.212.91/ which leads me to wonder if the domain name is not the same as the ip address?
When you upload your code, do you upload it to the domain name or to the IP address?

It's very strange that it comes up blank. I don't understand enough about web design to know the differences with the IP address and the domain. I upload it using the IP address because it kept saying it couldn't establish a connection when I tried to upload it using the domain name. Could this have anything to do with the fact that I used to use the design software of IX webhosting? I assumed when I published the website using CoffeeCup that it would erase everything that was on the server that I made with the hosting software, but is there a chance it didn't?
Joy,
It may be something left over from the IX software.
Do you have a FTP program? If so, log on and look at the domain location, and see if any of the code files in the root are older than the use of CoffeeCup software.

As pointed out your page is using url masking which places your site in a frame. (This also means nobody can bookmark any pages on your site other than the main page.)
Try using the full, absolute url for the favicon.
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://76.162.212.91/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

Hi guys! Thanks for all of your help. I'm wondering why the website is in a "frame"...I really don't want it to be this way. Is there a way to change it? Right now, I don't have an FTP program, but I can log onto what's called "webshell" on the IX hosting site and I see that all of my website files are in the folder "wandascrittersetc.com"...I had to set it up like this because when I didn't upload it to that folder, the new site didn't show up. Should I completely delete that folder and try to upload it without specifying a folder? Or is there a different folder name I should use?
Also, does anyone know why I can't upload the site via VSD using the ftp server "wandascrittersetc.com" instead of "76.162.212.91"? I was under the impression that they could be used interchangeably, yet when I try to use "wandascrittersetc.com", it can't establish a connection.
Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just so confused and frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Typically, the IP & domain can be used interchangeably if the domain has a static IP (which yours does). However, since the domain name loads the IP address within a frame, they don't act the same. I think you'll have to contact IX about the site being in a frame (URL Masking). Did they handle the domain registration and settings for that as well? Usually, the masking/frame feature is configured with whatever company controls the domain name (like GoDaddy). But if the domain name was registered with IX along w/ the hosting, then they should be able to help as it's related to the domain setup, not any software you're using for the web pages.
