Hi! Thank You for reading this. My only experience in editing my website text has been with Frontpage software, which my web host no longer supports. It was easy for me using the What You See Is What You Get and then pressing the save button and my site would be updated instantly. When I did this only the new changes that I made would change. Does CoffeeCup allow me to also just upload some new text changes to my website? If so, how can I do this? My site is only on my server and since I don't have any backup files on my computer I just don't want to ruin anything such as the links at the bottom of the page which go to the About Us Page.etc. I just want to know how to make simple text changes safely. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thank You, Sam

Hiya Sam,

If you load your pages up inside of the HTML Editor and just browse the pages you'll find the text on the page that you want to change or update. If you change only that text between the code brackets which usually look like this
> texthere <
then you should be just fine. If you want to change a link that would be a little more complicated, but still doable even in code. By going to the site page itself in your browser you'll see the site address in your address bar. You can then look for that in the page you want to change and then change it from there. If you're unsure how to change the code of a link, give a hollar and I'll try to explain a little more on it.

If you are looking to do a WYSIWYG type editor, then you should venture into trying CC's Visual Site Designer. The only downside though is that you won't be able to import your site to it, it's unable to load pages as they are on a site, it only can create and edit files in the .vnu setup that it creates so you would end up starting over.

The HTML Editor does have a visual editing setup, but I wouldn't recommend it as it's a bit buggy, unless you just create some backups of your site pages and then play with it and see if it works for you or not.

Hollar if you need more info than this and I'm sure either myself or the many that browse the forums here will do our best to help ya get situated with Coffeecup software :)

Hi Sam
Like you I found my host provider no longer supporting Frontpage. I looked at Microsoft replacement Web Expression and bearing in mind the cost I started to look elsewhere and found Coffee Cup. After a trial using their html editor I was hooked. Their prices are very reasonable but more than anything you receive free updates and an excellent technical support and user forum. I have been in the software industry many years and I can say I have not come across support bettter than this forum plus CC techincal support staff.
I quickly picked up how to use html coding rather than WYSIWYG and use CC free FTP to publish my web pages. Give CC html 2009 editor a test drive and try this forum for help.
One of my sites www.orrufc.co.uk started life with Frontpage and is now a mix of FP and Coffee Cup html editor.

Hi Dave, Thank you for writing. I went to your site. Very impressive indeed. Congratulations on learning how to create like that. I did purchase the CC Editor and am just getting my feet wet. After Jo Ann helped me yesterday, I succesfully edited my index page on my prexisting website at http://flowerpub.com. and was so happy that everything went well. Then a couple of hours ago I wanted to edit my About us page and cannot get the aboutus page to come up. I just can't figure out why. Are there different steps to download a linked page as compared to an the index page. I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Sam

Hiya Sam,

Are you downloading using an FTP program, or if not, then how are you downloading the site pages?

If you are using an FTP program, then you should see the pages all in the same area as the index file you downloaded to update. While checking your site out I'm seeing that the aboutus.htm page is in the root directory where the index.htm (or .html) page is so it should be there along with all the rest of the pages also which reside in the same place.

See ya tomorrow night as I'm heading home from vacation all day tomorrow, have fun with it and post again if you still can't find it and either I or someone will surely do what we can to steer you in the right direction to find the files :)

Hi Sam
Had a quick look at your about us page.
I noticed your doctype (line 1 of your html) is different to your home page.
I went onto your site selected view source copied your source and pasted it into my html 2009 editor changed the doctype and everything can be viewed from the preview tab. I was then able to edit the page with no problems.

Not sure what your problem is but try what I have done and see if your about us page loads into the editor and make some changes. It should work unless I am mis interpreting your exact problem.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Sam
You need to be editing your web pages on your PC then save the changes and then upload to server.
In the editor you should see several tabs on left side of your screen. Click on my computer and this displays all your folders on your PC. Find your folder which stores your we site pages and select the file about us. If you doulbe click the file the html page is loaded onto the screen. Make your changes save the file and upload to your server.
If you get stuck at any of these stages just fire a reply back. I will be away from my screen for a while but will look in later to see how you progress.
It can be a bit confusing in the early stages but stick at it Sam, people on the forum are very helpful and will guide you through till you get the hang of it..
