I am thinking of having them host my site and also use their "Website Tonight" design free templates for a small business (will probably use their shopping cart feature as well).

Does anyone here have experience with GoDaddy.com doing the same thing? If so, please share the experience...pros and cons. Also, if still hosted by GoDaddy.com, provide your website so I can see how it looks. Thanks

I would recommend Lunarpages. Godaddy will push the sales pitch often for updates to the packages sold. Lunarpages is excellent with customer support, cost is good and no problems with server issues.

Hi there! i have several websites hosted @ Godaddy and I've never had any issues...but I've never used website tonight so i cant comment there. And its true that godaddy does try to up-sell you whenever they get the chance. If you are thinking of using a template, there are plenty of free ones on the internet, and that would save you having to pay godaddy to use website tonight. (of course if you use your own template you would have to have basic HTML/FTP knowledge)

I just started with my own domain... registered my domain with GoDaddy and selected Hostgator for my Host. It's really too early for a judgement, but both came highly recommended by someone I respect... and Hostgator in particular impressed me with their honesty/faqs regarding hosting and registration scams.

I use godaddy for my web site hosting. I started off with website tonight, but it totally is not worth using. You are much better getting a regular godaddy hosting package and design your own web site with CC programs.

Website tonight is ok for a personal site, etc. You have to use their templates which are extremely limited on what you can do. I didn't like it at all.

I have a regular hosting package with them and use CC HTML editor and love it.

Godaddy is a great hosting provider but the Website Tonight is really basic. I hosted my site there for about six months before changing the design. It's easy to set up but not very flexible when designing online.

You get better deals with http://www.1and1.com or http://www.ixwebhosting.com.

Domain name included and more bandwidth, disk space, etc.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Stay away from 1and1. Truly you get for what you pay. They are a German company with an office in Philly. Customer service is horrible and all their sites work off of GMT time...not local time. So its a headache when programming time sensitive code. All there level 1 customer support is contracted to India so communication is difficult. Their support staff in India know nothing technical.

Their servers go off line all the time with a lot of hardware failures. 3 of my sites went down for 2 months! TWO MONTHS. I lost so much money and business with these people. They only choose to comp 1 month. Poor business practices. For more info, search google for 1and1 complaints.

You can only renew your URL's one year at a time which is a real drag.

Avoid 1and1 at all possible!

I have read some bad reviews on their dedicated servers but I have been using their shared linux hosting for a year without any down time. And I check daily.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
