Norman, have you any particular reason for using frames for your site?

If I go directly to the http://personales.ya.com/genders/index.html and view the site without frames, I can see the menu. And I'm using Firefox.

The logo is missing on the index page, though, it's not mentioned in the source code.

Norman,

Where do you want the menu to appear? If you want it below the logo6, you need to make some changes in the menu settings, and change how it appears in the code. If you have it appearing on the page (go directly as Inger mentioned) and change the width of your browser window, you will see the menu remain in one position as your page shifts. That can be fixed.

Let me know where you want the menu, and I will show you what needs to be changed to get it in position.

I will try to get back here tonight, but I have class from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. EST here in the USA, so it may be tomorrow before I can get back.

Hi Inger & Bill

I have put the logo back on the index page with the right height.

I can see and use the menu in both FF and MSIE if I go to the site via http://personales.ya.com/genders/index.html but not if I use the domain name. www.genderdialogues.org

I would like the menu to sit gently on the lower line of the logo, in the middle .... as it does when opened with Firefox.

I'm not sure about the frames question .. I thought I was not using frames.

Thanks for your help

Norman

At www.genderdialogues.org there is an index.html file which is a frameset file. If you have ftp access to www.genderdialogues.org just upload all the files you have in the 'genders' folder at the other site, and you'll be in business. The index.html file from http://personales.ya.com/genders will overwrite the frameset file.

BTW, do you see those little rectangles that appear in the menu when viewing with Firefox? They appear because there are some small .gif files (tri.gif, tridown.gif and trileft.gif) that are missing. You find them in the dhtml menu programme folder.

There must be an index.html at the genderdialogues.org, one with this content:

<html>
<head>
<title>Gender Dialogues</title>
<meta name="title" content="Gender Dialogues">
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="Women and Men in Dialogue: Experiental courses for Trainers Dealing with Gender Issues">
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="sex women men communication listening dialogue europe understanding">
<meta name="DC.Title" content="Gender Dialogues">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; ISO-8859-1">
<META NAME="DC.Language" SCHEME="RFC1766" CONTENT="Spanish">
<meta name="distribution" content="global">
<meta name="resource-type" content="document">
<meta name="Revisit" content="15 days">
<meta name="robots" content="all">
</head>
<frameset rows="100%,*" border="0" frameborder="0" framespacing="0" framecolor="#000000">
<frame src="http://personales.ya.com/genders//index.html">

<frame src="">
</frameset>
<NOFRAMES>
<b>dominio</b><hr>
This site requires a browser with frame capabilities.
</NOFRAMES>
</html>

If you are not using frames, you don't need that file, so let the index.html from the other domain overwrite it.

OK

I had a look on http://dominios.ya.com who hold the domain name to see how it is redirected. And yes there are 2 possibilities "frame" and "url" it was on frame and now changing it to url has made the menu visible.

However it now shows the hosting address instead of genderdialogues.org
Well I can live with that for the time being. And see if it can be fixed later.

Thanks Inger

Charles,

You may want to click on profile and change your forum name to something other than your email address. This is a public forum, and spammers are always looking for valid email addresses.

Can you provide a link to your page where the menu is giving you trouble. Sometimes just looking at the code shows the reason for a specific behavior.
