An interesting question was posed to me yesterday and I thought I would give the forum community a chance to respond. A graphics designer asked me if I could produce an interactive form or program that would enable his clients to be able to design their own sign, banner, or business card online. At the end of the process, they would submit their design by email to the company for completion. Anyone experienced with this type of product?

Try Google, there are lots of different online creators for almost everything you can think of. Just doing a search for:

Online Banner Maker

or creator or whatever you want to try should give you tons and the same for the rest of what they want to do. There is also online business card creators, the one that comes to my mind most would be Vistaprint.com where you can order basic cards or design your own and they will print them up for you.

If you're trying to think of a way to do this type of thing with the Form builder though, you're going to need a whole lot more plugins and experience with integrating forms with multiple types of design software to do this. Large job that I would leave to those already doing it if you're not a software engineer of some type as well as a graphics design engineer. Just my thoughts on it, but it's already out there anyways, Google is your friend, and your clients friend too :)

Thanks JoAnn......I have used online generators for a multitude of projects....This graphics designer wants the program within his website. I was looking to see if someone knew what it would take to create such a program.....Obviously, based on your response, there is a lot more to it than I thought. It's funny but his website already has a banner for a client to create his own sign, etc., but when you click on the link, it just informs you that this feature will be coming soon! Check it out at http://prosignsandgraphics.com/ . I am only guessing but I think his website designer is having trouble gettting something to work.

Commercial printers tend to use ready-made solutions for this; no need to re-invent the wheel. ;)
Here are 2 examples:

This may be better suited to a graphic design co. rather than a full-service printer:

If you can work with Adobe Flex (not free) there is an awesome FREE solution called OpenTshirts. Yeah, I know you said you were looking for something for signs, banners and business cards. The nice thing about OpenTshirts is that it is Open-Source!! The only drawback is that it works only with OpenCart. There used to be a standalone version, but that got dropped. OpenT can be customized to whatever you want it to produce, the only limit is to modify the images requires the ability to work with Adobe Flex. And there are some Open-Source programs that will edit Adobe Flex. It is not an easy path by any means, but it is pretty unlimited as to what you can do with it, and the price is one that can not be beat! :D

Hey Booth, Shoot me an email off the web site in my signature. I'll let you know of a script for $22 that may do what you want. You'll have to look at it and make your mind up. I've never used it.
