I do have an 'Edit Hyperlink' option, but afterwards it still puts the full (Absolute Address) in, not the Relative Address.

See if this will explain things a little better.

http://www.coffeecuphelp.com/paths.pdf

There are 2 links in the .pdf file along with 2 images showing how the paths to the video.html page are entered into the address bar in the Add Hyperlink box withi Word.

Both links should open the video.html page.

Now, save a copy of the paths.pdf file to your pc and then open it.

You will now see when you click the Relative path link it will not work, but when you click the Absolute path link it will open the video.html page.

--------------------------
Why it is best to use Absolute links in .pdf files.

People commonly email PDF files to each other, or they download PDF files to their desktops. If you place a relative link in your PDF files and try to click on that link from your desktop (or email), the Web page will not load.

In order for the page to load properly from your desktop or email, the PDF-file links should be absolute links.

Yahoo and Google can follow the links inside of a PDF file.

Thanks Jim,

But after you have clicked 'OK' and you roll your mouse over the generated hyperlink, what is displayed?

The rollover doesn't matter. All links behave this way.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Thanks.

According to Microsoft Answers, older versions of Word, use to have an option for turning Relative Links off/on.
