I have added the website access program to our club website.
I am having some problems where I had put the password protection on the main index page by mistake.
I have not been able to un-do this.
I used the remove website access from your server option.(very cool)
After removing it I waited a few hours refreshed the computer the reloaded it back up to the site on the correct folder (directory) we wanted protected.
Nothing took..?

Anyone have any ideas on how to get it back working?
Thanks for any help

"Not" so Lucky Ron.

I added, deleted, added, etc. protection without any problems.
Can you get to the .htaccess file and delete it. ...as long as you have nothing else dependant on it. Then reload your corrections via WAM ftp. This is purely a guess as that is what I would probably try since the access permissions are databased there.

I had tried that to no avail...?
I want to clear out all those files that hold the information and try again...but,
I'm considering making a completely NEW Identity file and try again .
The original one may be corrupted or something.

Can I transfer or save the membership data (members) info to put in that new Identity ? Then start over ......

Or can I delete all previous setting to make the original one - have no upload information stored?
Then I can start fresh with a new upload from the original data base.
Which method would you suggest...?
Thanks for the help,
Ron

Ron,

My feeling woud be to export usr/pwd data as comma separated. I think the inport funtion works with that but I haven't tried it. I'd open a new instance and try to import it. Of course save the csv file file.

Failing that, then I would try to empty the content and upload it. Not sure if the annoying window saying nothing has changed that requires an upload would show or not. Then import the info in a new stance and start over. Your usr/pwd data should still be stored in the svaed export which would allow reconstruction even if it is copy and pasted I would think.

You're not using Front Page Extensions on your site are you. Some things screw up the writeable permissions in .htaccess I have read but I cannot define them. Good luck. Maybe, Scott will be along soon with better info

Hey ....Scott has gone above and beyond trying to help me... Mr PITA
I'm been the most unlucky guy when it comes to this program
If anyone could screw this program up it would be me.
Hey I'm doing research for Scott "How a dummy can screw up installing this program"

When I'm done and up and running I hope it reveals any weakness there may be.
In the mean time I'm starting all over again from scratch.

Something has to be polluted in my 1st install?

I'll post how it goes. I hate to waste anyones time over my shortcomings.

I have yet to fully understand why Ron has these issues. He provided me with ftp access and I was able to make it work fine for me. It has to be a step that I am just not understanding that he is doing.

If any user here can get him up and running, I will give them any 5 applications of their choosing free of charge.

I have my fingers crossed for ya Ron!!! ;)

Good luck. ....Lucky. A reinstall would probably be a good idea and try to delete all generated files on the server before attempting another upload.

Hey ... I'm in no way knocking the program.
My problems are that the index folder got protected not the folder within the site for members only. I was not and still have not been able to get the program to work after the clean out.

One problem I see is --- I cant delete the command files that upload when you go to the upload feature.
I know you can un-check them but I don't see how you can permanently delete them or some of them.
I've searched the instructions and see no option like that.
I think I'm saying that an option to remove the upload data (selected directories and folders ) and be able to start over would be a nice feature.

I hate to have to re-enter all our members again with a new profile.
That is what I'm going to now do to try to solve or eliminate whatever I screwed up on my 1st install. ( Scott I'm trying ).
Ron
