Website Access- can't delete user

I have user id that has been corrupted and granted access to root directory which is creating problems. When I click on user I receive error message that says, "Error, Bad User Id". It won't allow me to remove access and it also will not allow me to delete. When I select delete user, it asks for confirmation but nothing happens. Any ideas on how to correct this?

I have this error in many records (has been occuring over the years of use) - I now can no longer load the database and have the server profile show. I suspect that the corruption in the database is causing an error - I have been using the program for years but this 'error, bad user id' is driving me nuts and maybe related to not being able to contact server (except for doing a 'Edit FTP settings...') but then when doing the upload to server it gets hung. I have tried getting the server profile back in (it goes OK, and the directories and database look OK) - I then exit, and re-enter, get a not so helpful "error." message and the server is no longer listed and empty when I go to 'edit FTP...' . It I try to do any changes on the database and upload to server (after re-entering FTP) it gets hung with 'error.' message again and I have to use the task manager to kill the program.

I use the program almost daily - it is my means of handling a subscription base. (I have installed the 4.0 217)

I NEED a way to clean the database so it can work again!

As a side note, this program has the possibility of becoming a customer database with a little more added - I submitted some comments along this line some time ago. It is a good progrram but flakey internally. I would be happy to try the new version 5 coming out to see if it can load my configuration without an error, or at least give me some chance to recover by by-passing what ever is hanging it.

Thanks

David

PS: I am almost desparate at this point as I have spent several hours trying all of my tricks except moving windows restore to a date just before this major crash occured. I would like to get what I have going as I spent several hours on record updates and additions.

Hey David,

It sounds like the database is corrupt. What you can do is this. First, go to the Tools Menu and select Remove Access Manager from Server. Next, go to the File Menu and export your users to a CSV file. After that, create a new website profile and import your CSV file back into Access Manager. Finally, protect the content and upload.

If all goes well, that should get you back up and running.

I have opened a ticket with support and sent in the .hdb file. I had tried the advice above as a part of my attempt to fix but the program hangs in doing an export. I should have mentioned it in my first post.

As a side point, because the password protection is working on the server I am loath to delete it as that would cause major problems for me as I have just done an update of my subscription program and any issues with it would deny my customers access to get the new version.

Thanks for the quick reply both here and on the forum, on a Sat. night too! - appreciated.

As another side point, I have a very complex program that uses a large complex database and I provide an external utility that lets one both look at any errors in it (posts to a log file) and also will try to fix it if the 'repair' option is on. - this utility, in some ways, is more complex than the program that uses the database. It has been a life saver.
