New to this. I seem to be PW protecting my entire site including my landing page (index). I want everyone to be able to access my index plus three or four other general public pages, but PW protect two of the pages/folders only. Please advise how to do that while leaving my main URL open to all. Please reply ASAP! Thanks.

Hiya Greg,

In order to protect pages, you need to PW protect them specifically. Here's a link to instructions I typed for someone a few days ago, please let me know if it doesn't answer all your questions or if you have others :)

Thanks. I believe I understand how to specify folders for PW access for those whom I have identified as "users". But what about the general public who are not specified "users"? I want the public to have access to my unprotected pages without having to sign up for anything. Then if they go to a protected page, they will see they have to sign up first and I can direct them to my membership page. make sense?

Hi Greg,
just a short explaination if I may, when i open WAM, the first highlighted thing on the left is the root directory, ( public_html in my case), well if my users have the boxes checked at that point, then that would mean the general public will not be able to open my website. Is possibly you situation?

Also I believe if you were to click on your root folder or index file, and uncheck it, should clear it for the public and still have your pages protected, just do the reverse.

am just trying this out for right now to see if it is what I need, but, have a question about the trial version.
when I try to set it up for access to my site, it will not connect properly even though the login and password are correct.

I do not use a specific folder for my files on my hosting server, could that be the problem?

thanks for any help in advance.

shouldn't be a problem Ken, I would just click on every item to see what is checked and not checked, un-check all except the pages you want protected, Whom are you hosted with if I may ask. :)
