I'm just trying to use this program to make user-only sections in my webpage. I run a pohotgraphy studio and I wanted clients to be able to access their pictures on my website. I want them to be able to login and be shown a page with their pics on it. I have the page all set up, but I can't figure out how to get them to get there. I tried setting up user-only areas with the software, but I only managed to lock out my whole site...I need anybody to be able to look at everything on the site except the user-specific pages. So, how do I get my page unlocked? How do I set up only specific pages to be locked? How do I put a login screen on my page? Does this software even do what I want or have I totally wasted my money and I need a different program? Thanks. :(

Oh yeah, the website is www.coraleephotography.com

Ok, I tried to delete everything off my server and re-upload the site so I could start over. Now I can't even upload my site. I'm using Visual Site Designer and bluehost.com is my server. I'm really confused and I'm kinda freaking out...

Please help?

Hiya Allison,

Firstly the best way to do what you want to do is to put the pages you want to protect in separate directories for each client. Then protect each directory with a separate ID and PW. You won't need to protect the whole site which is what it sounds like you did by accident. I would start by deleting all the htaccess files from the server (most likely you will need access to FTP to do this. Then create directories for your clients, you can name them for your clients too which will make it easier for you to discern who goes to what directory.

Once you have the directories created, put the pages you have for them along with all files that go to those pages in there. I don't use VSD so how to do the separate directories will be up to you or maybe someone else to help with.

Now use the WAM program to set up accounts for your server, but ONLY to the directories with the gallery pages in them. Set each one up as a separate account and give access to those pages to those people. Also don't forget to set one up for yourself for all of the directories so when you're testing you can see what the pages look like online. Keep in mind that the site pages will not know you are the Admin of the pages and you'll have to enter the ID and PW same as anyone else.

Hope that helps and let us know if you need more assistance. :)

Hi Allison, I too am a photographer using the WAM for client information and approval sites. I will use your contact page on your website, giving you my website and contact info should you like to discuss and compare.
Love those Nikon's!
