I am creating a website for a national club, which has a paid members only area.

I want to set it up where each member has their own login and password to get into the members only area.

How do I set that up in WAM?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Wordpress site, using apache
Using registered version of WAM

Hiya adevandry,

If you're using Wordpress you can do all that within Wordpress, there is no need for WAM for that. Within Wordpress you are able to setup specific access levels and such. I would suggest to look around at the Wordpress documentation and check their sites for information on this.

If you are still wanting to include a WAM setup with this then you'd need to setup the WAM account for each person and give them access to specific areas only. They would end up having to log into both your Wordpress site and then the WAM setup to access your special area this way.

This would be much easier and more efficient to do so within the Wordpress system though so I would look that over. WAM is a great tool for sure, but the CMS systems usually have access systems built into them and Wordpress has a pretty good one.

Thanks for the prompt reply!!! Wow.

Okay. I'll save my WAM program for another site then. :)

I know this is not a WordPress forum, but could you point me in the right direction for accomplishing this? Do I need to create users for each paid member?

If you don't mind doing some manual things, then what you can do is create an access group for your paid members, then when you have gotten confirmation that they have paid you can then go to your Admin panel and add them manually to that group. I don't think there is any automated way to do this without some major php coding which is above my head lol. I would say if you are able to, install a wordpress on a test server and just play around with it. That's what I'd have to do to try to explain how it worked so I guess I'll let you do it hehe. If you do get stuck though hollar and I'll see if I can fire it up and help ya. They probably have some very good docs on their site though so I would check there too on how it all works.

You shouldn't have to create the users yourself, let them go ahead and start one up themselves and then you just need to give them the access after the fact. This way they can log into your site and browse around even before they have full access to the paid area without having to wait on you to create accounts for them. Just a thought there :)

There are WordPress plugins for membership groups to have access to certain posts and pages that you define. Just go to your admin and search the plugins. No coding required.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!
