I am using the trial version of WAM.
I normally use Google Apps for my websites so I tried the settings:


Username: me@mydomain.com
Password: ******
smtp server: smtp.gmail.com
port: 587

Connecting to SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587...
Connected. Logging Into SMTP Server...
Attempting SMTP Auth Login...
UserName: me@mydomain.com Password: *****.
SMTP Auth Login failed
SMTP Quitting.
Test Complete.

Cannot Login, Cannot send


Just to see what would happen...I unchecked "authentication"and got:

Connecting to SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587...
Connected. Logging Into SMTP Server...
SMTP Server Login Completed.
Sending Test Email to me@mydomain.com
SMTP Message Send FAILED: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS . . command first. 24sm33900844eyx.6
SMTP Quitting.
Test Complete.

So now I CAN login but cannot send?

I know there are problems with using gmail...I was hoping they were fixed but Im guessing thats not the case?





I also tried mail.ru

Username:username@bk.ru
Password: ******
smtp server: smtp.bk.ru
port: 25

And I get the Error:

Connecting to SMTP Server: smtp.bk.ru Port: 2525...
Connected. Logging Into SMTP Server...
Attempting SMTP Auth Login...
UserName: username@bk.ru Password:********
SMTP Auth Login Succeeded
Sending Test Email to username@bk.ru
SMTP Message Send FAILED: 550 HELO or EHLO required

SMTP Quitting.

Test Complete.



Am I doing something wrong? Ideally I would like to use gmail smtp but if I cant use anything, then I cant see me buying this software....which is a shame cause its ideal otherwise.

Make sure to check the SSL option in WAM as Gmail requires secure STMP.

Have you got it working for gmail? do I need to change any settings in gmail?

I use it all the time with my Gmail account. Are you sure you configured it all correctly? They have some info here at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ … swer=13287
