Hiya libbie,

Can you be more detailed on what is giving you problems please? Better for us to know what type of advice to give if we know what exactly is giving you a hard time :)

Hiya libbie,

I do hope that password isn't actually blank for real, and if it is I would suggest you put one in there right now and please don't share it on the public forums as all this information is very easily shown up in search engines like google. If you have a password and just didn't put it in your post then nevermind you're all set, but I want to be sure that's taken care of asap so you don't get hackers in there.

As for your settings, the try these 2 things, 1 at a time to be sure which one might work.

1. First try changing the www folder to a forward slash only /

2. If that doesn't work then try /public_html (forgive my old brain that I don't recall which way I entered it, and it shows grayed out as /public_html so I'm assuming that I either entered it that way or it detected it when I put in the forwardslash to designate it as root directory)

3. If neither of those 2 work, which I'm assuming they will, try removing the "ftp." from the beginning of your ftp server name.

Let me know how that goes and we'll go from there :)

Be sure to do something on that password if you haven't already though so it's safe from searching eyes :)

Personally from my experience with most hosts, you would just enter your domain name. NO ftp needed.
my ftp address was www.domainname.com
rather than ftp.domainname.com

of course that doesn't work for all hosts.

One of the solutions on the fatcow site may help
http://www.fatcow.com/support/tutorials … mp;main=34

here is an excerpt found on one of their pages (deep within their support pages)
and it looks like you do need the ftp.domainname.com method.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question/Problem
Configuring: Connecting to your site using FTP

Answer/Solution

FatCow recommends using Secure FTP to connect to your site. If you choose to continue with FTP, all the information you need is below.

While specific steps will vary by FTP client, you will need to enter the following login information when setting up a connection to your site:

Host Name/Address: ftp.PrimaryDomain, where PrimaryDomain is your hosting account primary domain, set in DomainCentral

example: ftp.FlowersByAmy.info (where FlowersByAmy.info is the primary domain)

Host Type: Automatic detect
User ID: FTP username (The Master FTP username is typically your account username.)
Password: FTP password (The password for the master account is typically your account password.)

Note: Make sure that you connect in Passive Mode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALSO a note if you are not familiar with ftp you will want to make sure you are in your www, or public_html, or similiar folder before uploading. OTHERWISE you may upload your files above the website root and it won't be public AND it can cause an orginizational nightmare. Been there done that lol.

Feel free to Private message someone you feel you can trust with your account specs if you require more assistance.

As wolverana mentioned earlier NEVER post your account information in these very public forums.

Posting account information publically here is how I helped a lady through a server issue many years ago and then rebuilt her site which they love still to this day lol. Of course the first thing I sent to her and quickly was to remove the information.

Of course I used the information in a good way.
But not everyone on the net will HELP you, some will use your account information maliciously.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
