Hello all!

If you have not seen it yet, we just released our 29th application, CoffeeCup Website Access Manager http://coffeecup.com/website-access-manager

For anyone who has a Website, this question comes up sooner or later: How do I restrict access to specific sections of my Website? The short answer is that the process is technical and time-consuming — oh, and it runs the risk of completely messing up your Website. Until now, that is! With CoffeeCup Website Access Manager, you have the tools to easily create detailed user profiles and choose which users can access which portions of your site.

If you’re already working with CoffeeCup Password Wizard, we have an import feature just for you!

Couple of questions.

Is this replacing Password Wizard (thus ending our lifetime updates)? If so, will their be an "upgrade" type price for those of us who own Password Wizard?

It seems similar but yet forces another purchase. Maybe I'm wrong and haven't fully looked at the differences/similarities of the two products. I guess it also depends on if Password Wizard is at end of life as well.

Thanks in advance,
Twitch

This is a completely new program and does not replace Password Wizard. There is no upgrade price as this is a separate product.

If you are a Password Wizard customer, you can import your user names and password into Website Access Manager.

Password Wizard uses Flash to provide access to the Website. Our new program uses .htaccess

Is this compatible with Joomla by any chance? That's one of the main issues I have with Joomla is that it doesn't have good access control for pages, you can either be a guest, registered user or have various admin type privilges, there isn't anything for setting up group type things at all. So your program would be most useful if it was compatible with Joomla, this would allow us to at least have a semblance of user control for specific areas that we don't have now.

This software works outside of Joomla. When you try to access the Website protected with this software, you will be prompted to enter in a user name and password. Once you do that, your Website will then be displayed.

Nothing with Joomla is modified.

Ok nice, but will it work for accessing specific pages of a site even within the Joomla setup?
I guess I should have been more specific in my previous post. What we need in the Joomla setup is a way to setup access to specific pages rather than just the entire site (which is still helpful for entire site too). Not sure why the Joomla developers don't add more group access controls for us but for some reason they don't. Soooo, to make a longer story short, I guess I need to know, will this (or maybe even just the password program too) help us add more group access to specific areas of a website as well as full access to a website?

The Access Manager can only allow access to an entire folder, not specific files within that folder. You don't have to password protect the entire website, just the folders or a folder within the website if that is what you need.

I have never used the password wizzard, so i have no clue on that one.

Does this program put any other files on the server except a htaccess file and a htpasswd file?
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
